'Pro Bowl' + 'American Idol' - Reduced Competition = Big Fox Weekly Ratings Win

With Sunday night's NFL Pro Bowl plus 3 hours of American Idol and plenty of repeats running on CBS and ABC for the week, Fox had an easy time topping the broadcast networks 18-49 ratings.

Fox averaged a 4.2 adults 18-49 rating for the week. CBS finished in second with a 1.8 rating, while ABC finished third with a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating, and NBC trailed in fourth with a 1.6 rating.

And an extraordinary week it was as Fox elbowed aside CBS to top the press release friendly, but advertiser ignored average viewership for the week.

The network's average viewership is charted in millions of viewers, just like we report all other average viewership information on the site, and adults 18-49 is charted as ratings points. Note the units (million viewers on the left, rating on the right) below the bars.

Each adults 18-49 rating point is a percentage of the adults 18-49 US TV population and equals 1.315 million adults 18-49.
