Telemundo Posts Year-Over-Year Ratings Gains In January, Strengthening Its Position As The #2 Spanish-Language Network

TELEMUNDO POSTS YEAR-OVER-YEAR GAINS IN JANUARY, STRENGTHENING ITS POSITION AS THE #2 SPANISH-LANGUAGE NETWORK
MIAMI- February 2, 2011 – Telemundo, a leading producer of high-quality content for Hispanics in the U.S. and audiences around the world, today announced its NTI results for the month of January. Telemundo delivered year-over-year growth among total viewers (Persons 2+), Women 18-49 and Women 18-34 in both Monday through Friday (7-11pm) and Monday through Sunday (7-11pm) prime, while the competition experienced declines in these areas. The network maintained a strong hold as the #2 Spanish-language network in primetime across the key adult and female demographics, as well as total viewers (Persons 2+).
In Monday through Friday prime, Telemundo delivered 1,127,000 total viewers (Persons 2+) in January 2011, a +7% increase over January 2010 (1,055,000). The network reported 338,000 viewers among Women 18-49 and 179,000 viewers among Women 18-34, representing +18% (287,000) and +12% (160,000) growths over the prior year, respectively.
In Monday through Sunday prime, Telemundo reached 1,081,000 total viewers (Persons 2+), increasing delivery by +8% over the same period last year (1,003,000). The network reported a delivery of 309,000 Women 18-49, a +19% increase year-over-year (260,000). Additionally, 169,000 Women 18-34 tuned in to Telemundo during Monday through Sunday prime, a +14% growth over last year (148,000).
Telemundo delivered double-digit leads over Telefutura for January 2011 in both Monday through Friday and Monday through Sunday prime in key demographics. In Monday through Friday prime, Telemundo holds advantages of +21% among Adults 18-49 (584,000 vs. 483,000), +55% among Women 18-49 (338 vs. 218,000), +18% among Adults 18-34 (324,000 vs. 274,000), +50% among Women 18-34 (179 vs. 119,000) and +32% among total viewers (Persons 2+) 1,127,000 vs. 857,000). In Monday through Sunday prime, Telemundo out-delivered Telefutura by +13% among Adults 18-49 (581,000 vs. 512,000), +39% among Women 18-49 (309,000 vs. 222,000), +12% among Adults 18-34 (334,000 vs. 299,000), +33% among Women 18-34 (169,000 vs. 127,000) and +20% among total viewers (Persons 2+) (1,081,000 vs. 900,000).
In the 7pm hour, Caso Cerrado Edicion Estelar delivered impressive gains among Women 18-49 and Women 18-34. Compared to the same time period one year ago, Caso Cerrado Edicion Estelar lifted the Women 18-49 delivery by +98% (372,000 vs. 188,000) and +64% among Women 18-34 (186,000 vs. 113,000). In addition, Caso Cerrado Edicion Estelar averaged over 1.4 million total viewers (Persons 2+) in January 2011, an increase of +76% over the prior year.
In the 10pm hour, the novela Alguien Te Mira reported growth for the fourth consecutive month and delivered a new high of 603,000 viewers among Adults 18-49 as well as just over one million total viewers (Persons 2+) for the month. The novela delivered a +11% increase year-over-year in the time slot among Adults 18-49 and +9% growth among total viewers (Persons 2+).
Telemundo aired Apocalypto and Titanic in primetime in January, which ranked as the top 2 Spanish-language broadcast movies across a variety of demographics for the month, including total viewers (Persons 2+), Adults 18-49, Women 18-49, Men 18-49, Adults 18-34, Women 18-34, Men 18-34 and Persons 12-17.
Season-to-date, Telemundo maintains its ranking as the #2 Spanish-language network in primetime across the key adult and female demographics. In fact, Telemundo is the fastest growing major broadcast network in primetime among Women 18-49. Telemundo has also delivered significant leads over Telefutura season-to-date in both Monday through Friday and Monday through Sunday prime. In Monday through Friday prime, season-to-date, Telemundo is reporting leads of +26% for Adults 18-49, +75% for Women 18-49, +26% for Adults 18-34, +76% for Women 18-34 and +39% for total viewers (Persons 2+). Season-to-date in Monday through Sunday prime, Telemundo is reporting leads of +16% for Adults 18-49, +52% for Women 18-49, +16% for Adults 18-34, +52% for Women 18-34 and +24% for total viewers (Persons 2+).
