REPORTING LIVE FROM EGYPT, “THIS WEEK WITH CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR” HAS THIRD STRONGEST PERFORMACE OF SEASON

On January 30, 2011, ABC News’ “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” drew 2.71 million Total Viewers and 880,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” saw its 3rd-strongest performance of the season in both Nielsen measures.

For the 2nd week in a row, “This Week” built on its prior week’s numbers in both Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+11%).

On a special edition of “This Week” on Sunday, January 30, Christiane Amanpour reported live from Cairo, Egypt. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Egyptian Ambassador to the U.S. Sameh Shoukry, and National Security Adviser to former President Carter Zbigniew Brzezinski, and former head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog Mohamed ElBaradei joined Ms. Amanpour to discuss the fallout from the protests, the Mubarak government’s reaction, and how unrest in Egypt will affect the country’s relationship with the United States. Al Jazeera Washington Bureau Chief Abderrahim Foukara, ABC News’ George Will, Senior Foreign Correspondent Martha Raddatz, and contributor Sam Donaldson joined Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper for the roundtable discussion.

Christiane Amanpour is the anchor of “This Week” and James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs Sundays on the ABC Television Network.
