POSTS SMALLEST A25-54 GAP WITH MEET THE PRESS THIS SEASON
“THIS WEEK” IS NO. 2 IN KEY ADULTS 25-54 DEMOGRAPHIC
On February 6, 2011, ABC News’ “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” drew 2.60 million Total Viewers and 970,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” ranked as the No. 2 public affairs program in the key adult news demographic on Sunday, beating CBS’ “Face the Nation” by 50,000.
Growing week to week for the third Sunday in a row, “This Week” registered its second-largest Adults 25-54 audience of the season. Compared to CBS and NBC, “This Week” stood as the only public affairs program to grow in the key adult news demo from the prior week (CBS’ “Face the Nation:” -14%, NBC’s “Meet the Press:” -15%).
“This Week” improved over the same Sunday last year (2/7/10) in Adults 25-54 (+17%). In addition, “This Week” was up the most in Adults 25-54 over the year-ago week versus CBS’ “Face the Nation” (-24%) and NBC’s “Meet the Press” (+4%).
“This Week” narrowed its Adults 25-54 gap (110,000) with NBC’s “Meet the Press” to its smallest of the season.
On a special edition of “This Week” on Sunday, February 6, Christiane Amanpour reported live from Cairo, Egypt. Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman joined Ms. Amanpour for an exclusive discussion on the current state of the protests in Egypt, and what is next for the country. Egyptian Ambassador to the U.S. Sameh Shoukry also spoke with Ms. Amanpour about what a possible transfer of power will mean for the U.S. and the world. Veteran Egyptian journalists Lamia Radi and Nadia abou el-Magd, BBC’s John Simpson, Tony Shadid of The New York Times and ABC News’ David Muir joined Ms. Amanpour for the roundtable discussion.
Christiane Amanpour is the anchor of “This Week” and James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs Sundays on the ABC Television Network.
