In an interview with, the Fringe showrunners Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman had this interesting tidbit to share about their take on the show’s ratings and renewal prospects:

[W]e’ve been told, as long as we’re getting a 1.2 [adults 18-49 rating] or whatever, that’s okay for Friday nights, man!

Our commenters have already brought up the interview on our site, and I’m sure it will soon be part of the Fringe fan frenzy, but I have no doubt that were Fringe to settle at a 1.2 rating it would be cancelled, regardless of what the showrunners claim.
