Audience figures for this early NASCAR season continue their upward trend as FOX Sports’ coverage last Sunday of Daytona 500 Qualifying scored big.  The three-hour event averaged a 2.0/5 household rating/share, with 3.3 million viewers, up +25% in rating and +40% in viewership compared to 2010 (1.6/4, 2.4 million).  Across key male demographics, 2011 Daytona 500 Qualifying was up +50% in the M18-34 demographic, +20% for M18-49 and +21% for M25-54.

The increases for 2011 Qualifying come on the heels of Saturday night’s Budweiser Shootout which scored a 4.5/8 household rating/share, with 7.8 million viewers, +2% better than last year’s 4.4/8 rating.  The Shootout gave FOX an easy win Saturday night among broadcast networks, with a 2.4 rating for Adults 18-49, more than doubling the 0.9 earned by both ABC and CBS.
