“GMA” Grows in Total Viewers Week-to-Week, Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date

“GMA” Cuts Weekly Total Viewing Gap with NBC’s “Today” to Smallest Margin in Over 3 Years

“GMA” Posts Second Largest Weekly Total Viewing Advantage Over CBS’ “Early Show” in Over 3 Years

ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 4.97 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/11/1.88 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of February 21, 2011. “GMA” grew week to week by +5% in Total Viewers and by +5% in Adults 25-54, drawing the ABC morning news program’s third largest audience of the season. “GMA” saw its Total Viewers count (+8%) grow for the 7th straight week over the same week last year. In addition, “GMA” stood as the only morning program to grow its Total Viewer audience over the year-ago week.

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news programs in Total Viewers (+5%) versus its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is down -4%, CBS’ “Early Show” is up +1%).

“GMA” narrowed its margins with “Today” in Total Viewers (-40%, 430,000) and Adults 25-54 (-9%, 580,000) vs. the previous week. In fact, “GMA” scored its smallest weekly total viewer gap with “Today” in well over 3 years – since w/o 10/29/07. For the second week in a row, “GMA” shrank its margins with the NBC program by double-digits compared to the year-ago week in both Total Viewers (-74%) and Adults 25-54 (-40%).

“GMA” topped CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.13 million Total Viewers and by 660,000 Adults 25-54 viewers, beating the CBS program with its second-largest Total Viewer lead of the season. In fact, it was "GMA's" second-largest weekly Total Viewer margin over CBS' "Early Show" in over 3 years - since week of 11/26/07. In addition, “GMA” expanded its advantage week-to-week over the CBS program by +6% Total Viewer and by +12% in Adults 25-54.

*Note: Due to the Presidents’ Day Holiday, ABC's, CBS' and NBC's Monday telecast were coded as specials and excluded from the weekly average.

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
