“This Week” ranked as the No. 2 public affairs program in the key adult news demographic during the February 2011 sweep, topping CBS’ “Face the Nation” by +6,000 Adults 25-54 viewers (854,000 vs. 848,000), according to Nielsen Media Research. In fact, in beating “Face the Nation,” “This Week” delivered its most competitive Adults 25-54 performance over the CBS program during a February sweeps period in 11 years – since February 2000.

For the February 2011 Sweep, “This Week” drew 2.45 million Total Viewers and 854,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. The ABC public affairs program was up over November 2010 by +6% in Total Viewers and by +16% in Adults 25-54, growing over the previous sweep for the second sweeps period in a row.

“This Week” improved on its February 2010 performance by +11% in Adults 25-54. In fact, compared to CBS and NBC, ABC’s “This Week” stood as the only public affairs program to grow from the year-ago sweep in the key young adult news demo (CBS’ “Face the Nation” was down -18%; NBC’s “Meet the Press” was down -2%).

On February 27, 2011, ABC News’ “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” drew 2.45 million Total Viewers and 760,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

“This Week” saw increases over its year-ago performance in both Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%) for the second week in a row. Further, “This Week” grew year-to-year for the fourth consecutive Sunday in the key adult news demo.

On Sunday, the sons of President Muammar Ghadafi, Saadi and Saif Ghadafi, sat down for two exclusive interviews with ABC News’ Christiane Amanpour to discuss what they believe the nature of the Libyan uprisings to be, how the instability has affected their daily lives, and whether Libyans have a right to democracy. ABC News’ Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper hosted a special roundtable discussion that included Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ), Gov. Deval Patrick (D-MA), Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), and Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO).

Christiane Amanpour is the anchor of “This Week.” The program airs Sundays on the ABC Television Network.
