For the February 2011 Sweep, “Good Morning, America” attracted 4.96 million Total Viewers and 1.89 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  The ABC morning program was up over November 2010 by +7% in Total Viewers and by +6% in Adults 25-54, growing over the previous sweep for the second sweeps period in a row. In fact, “GMA” drew its largest overall sweep audience in 13 sweeps periods – since November 2007.

 

“GMA” was up over its year-ago performance in Total Viewers (+5%), building on its February Total Viewer count for the 2nd year in a row. “GMA” registered its most-watched overall February sweep audience in 4 years – since February 2007. In addition, “GMA” grew the most year-to-year among the network morning news programs (CBS’ “Early Show” was up by less than 1%, NBC’s “Today” fell by -6%).

“GMA ” bested CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.10 million Total Viewers and by 660,000 Adults 25-54 viewers during the February 2011 sweep.  “GMA” beat the CBS program by its largest Total Viewer margin during any sweeps period in over 3 years (since November 2007) and largest February sweep margin in 5 years (since February 2006).

 

“GMA” saw its margins decrease with “Today” by -48% in Total Viewers (690,000) and by -11% in Adults 25-54 (710,000) compared to the February 2010 sweep (1.32 million & 810,000 gaps, respectively).  In fact, “GMA” delivered its smallest February sweep gap with Total Viewers versus “Today” in 6 years – since February 2005.  Looking at all sweeps periods, the ABC morning news program posted its smallest total viewing gap in over 3 years – since November 2007.

 

 

For the week of February 28, 2011, ABC’s “Good Morning America” averaged 5.01 million Total Viewers and a 1.5/11/1.90 million in Adults 25-54. Building on the previous week for the 2nd week in a row in both Total Viewers (+1%) and Adults 25-54 (+1%), “GMA” attracted its 2nd-largest audience of the season. In addition, “GMA” improved on its year-ago week performance in Total Viewers (+6%) for the 8th straight week and 11th time in the last 12 weeks.

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news program in Total Viewers (+5%) versus its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is down -3%, CBS’ “Early Show” is up by less than +1%).

Scoring season-high advantages, “GMA” topped CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.32 million Total Viewers and by 760,000 Adults 25-54 viewers, leading the CBS program with its largest Total Viewer gap in over 3 years - since week of 10/29/07.

Marking a season-high broadcast on Monday (2/28/11), “GMA” posted its most-watched telecast (5.84 million) in well over 2 years and highest Adults 25-54 performance (2.29 million) in close to 2 years – since 11/5/08 and 3/3/09, respectively.

The Emmy Award-winning morning news program, featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion and Juju Chang, airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00-9:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network. James Goldston is the senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is the executive producer of ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
