TELEMUNDO BEATS UNIVISION, ABC AND NBC AT 10PM EARNING BEST WEEK IN ITS HISTORY
MIAMI – April 13, 2011 – On the heels of announcing its best quarter in history, Telemundo continues its record-breaking momentum reporting “La Reina del Sur” beat Univision, ABC, NBC and Telefutura for the week of April 4th, among adults 18-34. The telenovela also beat a number of English-language broadcast programs among adults 18-49 throughout the week. Telemundo averaged more total viewers (persons 2+) and adults 18-49 than any other week in network history during Monday through Friday and Monday through Sunday prime.
“La Reina del Sur” continues to climb and delivered yet another new high for a weekly performance across all key demographics, including nearly 3.3 million total viewers (persons 2+) (3,262,000) and close to 2.2 million adults 18-49 (2,197,000). The telenovela also delivered its best performance ever for an individual telecast on Monday, April 4 with 3,491,000 total viewers (persons 2+) and 2,374,000 adults 18-49.
“Los Herederos del Monte” also delivered its best weekly performance to date among total viewers (persons 2+) and adults 18-49, delivering 1,174,000 and 683,000 viewers in the key demographics, respectively.
According to Nielsen ratings, Telemundo delivered nearly 1.6 million total viewers (persons 2+) (1,598,000) and 975,000 adults 18-49 in Monday through Friday prime. Telemundo’s 7-11pm delivery garnered a 29% share of the Spanish-language television audience (defined as Telemundo, Univision and Telefutura) for the week among adults 18-49.
The network’s Monday through Friday delivery among adults 18-49 for the week of April 4 more than tripled Telefutura’s (301,000). For the month, Telemundo is reporting a +161% lead over Telefutura among total viewers (persons 2+) (1,585,000 vs. 607,000) and +180% among adults 18-49 (948,000 vs. 338,000).
In Monday through Sunday prime, Telemundo reported 1,452,000 total viewers (persons 2+) and 899,000 adults 18-49. Telemundo garnered a 29% share of the audience viewing the largest Spanish-language television networks (defined as Telemundo, Univision and Telefutura) in this prime daypart. The network’s delivery among adults 18-49 outperformed Telefutura by +164% (340,000).
