Tuesday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)
ABC (10.7 million) stood as the 2nd-most-watched network on Tuesday night to CBS, topping Fox by 3.6 million viewers (7.1 million) and NBC by 4.2 million viewers (6.5 million).
- Continuing to exhibit year-over-year momentum, ABC built its overall Tuesday audience for the 5th consecutive week, growing its audience from the same night last year by 1.0 million viewers (9.7 million on 4/20/10) over an all-original schedule (“DWTS Results Show”/”Lost”/”V”).
“DWTS Results Show” (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
ABC’s “DWTS Results Show” led the 9 o’clock hour in Total Viewers (15.8 million) for the 4th consecutive week, standing as Tuesday’s most-watched program. In addition, the ABC dancing results show ranked No. 1 in the hour in Adults 18-49 for the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks, topping runner-up, the second hour of NBC’s “Biggest Loser: Couples” by 16% (2.9/7 vs. 2.5/6). Supermodel Petra Nemcova was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated from the show this season.
“DWTS Results Show” posted sizeable year-over-year increases, surging by 16% in Total Viewers and by 21% in Adults 18-49 over the same night last year (13.6 million and 2.4/7 on 4/20/10).
“Body of Proof” (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
ABC’s “Body of Proof” registered as the most-watched program (11.5 million) in the 10 o’clock hour for the 4th consecutive week, topping the season finale of NBC’s “Parenthood” by 5.2 million viewers (6.3 million).
- The ABC freshman drama was up week to week in viewers (+4%) and key Men (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54), hitting best-since-premiere numbers.
- The new drama improved the hour year to year for ABC by 5.7 million viewers (11.5 million vs. 5.8 million) and by 9% in Adults 18-49 (2.4/6 vs. 2.2/6) over the year-ago night with an original “V.”
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 40% currently, from 36% at the same point in 2010. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
