“GMA” is Attracting its Largest Audience in 4 Years – Since the 2006/7 Season

“GMA” Grows Most Versus Morning Shows in Total Viewers Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date:
Marking 21 Consecutive Weeks of Year-to-Year Growth in Total Viewers

ABC News’ “Good Morning America” averaged 4.617 million Total Viewers and a 1.4/11/1.787 million in Adults 25-54 for the week of May 30, 2011. For the 6th consecutive week, “GMA” improved year-to-year in both Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 25-54 (+5%), growing the most on the year-ago Memorial Day week among the network morning news programs.

“GMA” increased its year-over-year Total Viewer growth to 21 weeks in a row. In fact, “GMA” improved on its year-ago performance in 34 of 37 weeks of the season to date. “GMA” was also up over the same week last year in the key adult news demo for 12 of the last 13 weeks.

Season to date, “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news programs in Total Viewers (+9%) compared to its year-ago average (NBC’s “Today” is up less than +1%; CBS’ “Early Show” is up +2%). “GMA” is attracting is largest audience in 4 years – since the 2006-2007 season.

For the 2nd week running, “GMA” cut its weekly margins versus NBC’s “Today” in both Total Viewers (-21% - 650,000 vs. 819,000) and Adults 25-54 (-18% - 623,000 vs. 756,000), posting its smallest Adults 25-54 margin in 9 weeks – since w/o 3/28/11. Additionally, “GMA” shrank its margins with “Today” compared to the year-ago week by -33% in Total Viewers (650,000 vs. 974,000) and by -9% in the Adults 25-54 gap (623,000 vs. 681,000), narrowing its year-ago demo gap for the 4th straight week.

“GMA” outperformed CBS’ “Early Show” by 89% in Total Viewers (4.617 million vs. 2.447 million) and by 89% among Adults 25-54 (1.787 million vs. 945,000).
