This is the third of our “2011 Emmys, Who’ll Be Nominated? Who Should Be?” posts, to see all our posts on the 2011 (and past) Emmys click here. (since this is the third, all the 2011 posts will take a while to appear)

Because successful TV shows last many years (unlike movies, which have a single shot at an Oscar), and typically draw the most critical attention, the Emmy Awards tend to be creatures of inertia, nominations and the awards themselves tend to be quite similar from year to year.

I’m not going to pretend to try and tell you who’ll be nominated based on some sort of critical evaluation, just looking at who was nominated and who won in the last three years should give you a pretty good start.

Note that because of the late start to the Breaking Bad season this year, Bryan Cranston is not eligible.

Feel free to comment on who you think will be nominated, and who should be nominated.

Emmy Nominations will be announced on July 14.
