Lead Actress In A Drama Series Emmy: Who'll Be Nominated? Who Should Be?

This is the fourth of our “2011 Emmys, Who’ll Be Nominated? Who Should Be?” posts, to see all our posts on the 2011 (and past) Emmys click here. (since this is the fourth, all the 2011 posts will take a while to appear)

Because successful TV shows last many years (unlike movies, which have a single shot at an Oscar), and typically draw the most critical attention, the Emmy Awards tend to be creatures of inertia, nominations and the awards themselves tend to be quite similar from year to year.

I’m not going to pretend to try and tell you who’ll be nominated based on some sort of critical evaluation, just looking at who was nominated and who won in the last three years should give you a pretty good start.

Feel free to comment on who you think will be nominated, and who should be nominated.

I'm more interested in this category than most. It will be ridiculous if Katey Sagal (Sons Of Anarchy) is again excluded from a nomination (as SOA's Kurt Sutter tweeted last year "Mariska Hargitay, are you #&^# kidding me?")

Emmy Nominations will be announced on July 14.
