Breaking Bad soared to new highs in its premiere last Sunday with a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating and 2.576 million total viewers. One theory is that good word of mouth led to a lot of people catching up in the extra-long hiatus between season three and season four who were anxiously awaiting the premiere. I certainly fall into that category and I didn't have to wait that long since I'd only caught up on the first three seasons in June. That converted me into one of those zealots who'll tell anyone who'll listen to watch the show. Others think promotion on AMC (particularly during last fall's The Walking Dead ). Either, both or something else: it worked and Breaking Bad had the best season premiere ever on AMC outside of The Walking Dead.
It's appointment viewing now for me, but will it be for others? Will it keep its momentum and break new ground tonight? My guess is it will go down, but only a little - a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.
