New York, NY – July 27, 2011 – MTV brings home the newest edition to the “MTV Cribs” franchise with the premiere of  “Extreme Cribs” airing on Monday, August 1 at 4:30pm ET/PT. From celebs to teens, “MTV Cribs” has a long history of giving viewers a personal tour of some of the most luxurious pads across the country. Now “Extreme Cribs” is gearing up to showcase abodes with peculiar features and design quirks that are unique, unusual, alternative and yes, extreme. From scaling living spaces suspended in tree tops to crawling through cozy caverns built inside caves, viewers will be whisked away to the doorsteps of some the most distinctive casas across the globe and meet the pioneering families that have redefined everyday living.

A broad collection of extraordinary spaces will be on full display throughout the sixteen episode season and viewers will witness both the challenges and gratifying benefits that living unconventional lifestyles inside them can present. These most unlikely dwellings include a fully functional replica of “The Munsters” macabre mansion, a house built deep inside an abandoned missile silo, a flat in London re-built to look exactly like the Starship Enterprise from “Star Trek,”  and a 360 degree rotating abode perched atop the a hillside overlooking San Diego.  The families featured on the series will show viewers that home is where the heart is, even it that home is constructed 100 feet underground.

“Extreme Cribs” is Executive Produced by Dave Sirulnick and Marshall Eisen with Shauna McNeely-LeClaire serving as Supervising Producer.
