CBS is up this morning in the summer TCA press tour and twitter exploded when entertainment chief Nina Tassler confirmed that Charlie Sheen's character on Two and Half Men, Charlie Harper would be killed off. Tassler would not confirm whether the season opens at Harper's funeral. Ashton Kutcher will play Walden Schmidt, "an Internet billionaire with a broken heart.” Tassler said the Season 9 premiere “will be a two-parter [airing] over two weeks” beginning Monday, Sept. 19.
When asked about NBC and ABC having comedians like Kimmel and McHale poke fun at CBS's aged viewers, Tassler said "Maybe they should stick with comedy and check their stats," pointing out that CBS beat both NBC and ABC with adults 18-49.
Tassler said CBS was still interested in the song and/or dance performance competition space and said they were looking for a good format and would hopefully find one. 'We're looking for that piece of the puzzle,' she said. Tassler also said that Rob Schneider's new comedy is targeted for mid-season, as is 'The 2-2" and another season of "."
