Update: alert commenter "Joe Jackson" who has a much better memory than I do notes that USA renewed In Plain Sight for a fourth and fifth season at the same time last year, so this is really just a cancellation (and a reduced episode order) announcement.

Good news, bad news In Plain Sight fans. USA's has renewed In Plain Sight for one final season of eight episodes (via USA's Ted Linhart who tweeted a link to the news on Variety.
"We've built a contract with the audience and want to give them a sense of closure," USA Network co-president Jeff Wachtel told Variety.
So while an announcement of renewal, it's also an announcement of cancellation.
