UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – September 1, 2011 – NBC's late-night lineup has generated #1 finishes for the week of August 22-26 despite airing encore telecasts against original competition on CBS.

For the week, rebroadcasts of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" generated bigger audiences than CBS's encores of "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and encores of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories. Note that Friday's "Late Show" was delayed by an NFL overrun and is excluded from these averages.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, rebroadcasts of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger audiences than CBS's originals of "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories. Friday's "Late Late Show" was delayed by a football overrun and is excluded from these averages.

The "Tonight" encores and "Late Show" originals tied for the week in adult 18-49 rating (0.8 each), but in viewers 18-49, "Tonight" generated an 11 percent margin of victory (1.101 million vs. 993,000). The "Tonight" rebroadcasts also out-delivered the "Late Show" originals in adults, men and women 18-34, men and women 18-49, adults and women 25-54 and total viewers. At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon rebroadcasts topped first-run episodes of "Late Late Show" by a 23 percent margin in viewers 18-49 (670,000 vs. 544,000) and also delivered bigger audiences among adults, men and women 18-34; men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and total viewers.

So far during the 2010-11 television season versus the first 49 weeks of last season, "Tonight" is up by 11 percent in total viewers (3.853 million vs. 3.464 million), while "Late Show" is down 8 percent (3.380 million vs. 3.674 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon is up 12 percent versus his year-ago pace in total viewers (1.764 million vs. 1.571 million), while "Late Late Show" is down 7 percent (1.665 million vs. 1.785 million).

At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" is up so far this season versus one year ago by 3 percent in 18-49 viewers (482,000 vs. 467,000) and up 11 percent in total viewers (972,000 vs. 873,000).

Jay Leno has ranked #1 for 46 of 48 weeks this season versus "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers (excluding the week of Wimbledon delays). Jimmy Fallon has ranked #1 versus "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for 48 of 48 weeks this season (excluding Wimbledon week). In total viewers, Jimmy has out-delivered "Late Late Show" for the last 15 weeks in a row.
