Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero includes the following episodes:
Episode One describes the vision for the reconstruction of the most important 16 acres in America – the design of the new world Trade Center. The Episode will focus on One World Trade – the tallest and safest building in US History. At 1776 ft tall, Tower One is America’s physical response to the attacks of 9/11.
Episode Two dives deeper in to America’s newest and most important skyscraper. The hour will culminate in Tower One rising to a height of 1000 feet – effectively reclaiming the skyline and demonstrating that America is rising.
Episode Three descends below grade into the new National 9/11 Museum, as its builders and curators prepare to tell the story of one of America’s darkest days, using some of the physical remnants of the tragedy– staircases, crushed fire trucks, and the original steel footings of the Twin Towers, still embedded 80 feet below grade.
Episode Four will tell the story of the survivors of 9/11. The courageous citizens who choose not to flee in wake of the tragedy, but choose to remain and to rebuild–not just their 10 million square foot of lost real estate, but also their community.
Episode Five The challenge of creating a train station that moves 50 million people a year through hallowed ground gives rise to an architectural marvel – a cathedral-like new gateway to Lower Manhattan that will dethrone Grand Central Station as New York’s most iconic and essential transportation hub.
Episode Six focuses on giving the families who have waited a decade for a proper place to mourn their tragic loss – a memorial that pays tribute to both the physical destruction of the twin towers and the nearly 3000 innocent individuals who vanished that day.
