Synopsis:

Just in time for the holidays, BBC is compiling one massive collection in honor of the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, with the release of Doctor Who: The Complete David Tennant Years. David Tennant first appeared as The Doctor in 2005, and went on to star in three seasons and eight specials as the tenth incarnation of the Time Lord. BAFTA-winner Russell T Davies (Torchwood, Queer as Folk) is lead writer and executive producer and BAFTA-winner Julie Gardner (Torchwood, Life on Mars) is executive producer.

This collection celebrates Tennant’s tenure by bringing together The Complete Second Series co-starring Billie Piper (Secret Diary of a Call Girl) as Rose Tyler, The Complete Third Series co-starring Freema Agyeman (Law & Order: UK) as Martha Jones and The Complete Fourth Series co-starring Catherine Tate (The Office, The Catherine Tate Show) as Donna Noble, all eight specials and two spin-off animated adventures, in a collectible package. Prior to ending his run as the Doctor, Tennant commented: "I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life-changing time working on Doctor Who.”

About David Tennant:

David Tennant most recently starred as Peter Vincent in the film Fright Night and had the lead role in the West End production of Much Ado About Nothing along with his former Doctor Who co-star Catherine Tate. Before landing the role of The Doctor in Doctor Who, he played the title role in Russell T Davies’ adaptation of Casanova alongside Peter O’Toole. He also played Briscoe in The Quatermass Experiment, the sci-fi cult classic first broadcast live in 1953. Recent television credits include United and Single Father. His stage work includes The Pillowman at the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company productions of Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet and As You Like It. His movie roles include Stephen Fry’s Bright Young Things, the role of Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire and The Voice of Spitelout in How To Train Your Dragon.

About Doctor Who:

Doctor Who follows the adventures of the Doctor, the mysterious traveller who, with his companions, journeys throughout all of time and space, facing a variety of foes and righting wrongs. Eleven actors have played the Doctor in this iconic sci-fi series. Classic Doctor Who encompasses the first eight Doctors, which originally aired on the BBC from 1963-1989 and ran on over 400 PBS stations in the ‘80s, as well as a special film in 1996 that aired on Fox.

Doctor Who is recognized by Guinness World Records as “the most successful sci-fi series on television” and “TV’s longest running sci-fi show.” A new era of the BAFTA-winning series began in 2010 with new lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat (Sherlock, Coupling) at the helm and Matt Smith starring as the Eleventh incarnation of the famous Time Lord alongside two new travelling companions, the enigmatic Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill). The current series premieres on BBC AMERICA in the U.S. and SPACE in Canada.

Prior to the current series, a slick re-imagination of Doctor Who, created by Russell T Davies in 2005, put a fresh spin on the adventures of the iconic Time Lord and his feisty companions, who save the universe from dangerous aliens and terrifying monsters. Christopher Eccleston starred as the Doctor for Davies’ first season, followed by David Tennant for three consecutive seasons plus specials.

Doctor Who has received three BAFTAs, including Best Drama Series in 2006, four Hugo Awards for Best Dramatic Presentation: Short Form in 2006/7/8/10 and 2011, as well as the Saturn Award for Best International Series in 2007.

Most recently, Matt Smith earned a 2011 BAFTA nomination for Leading Actor, the first nod for an actor in the history of the series.
