Notre Dame Hosts Long-Time Rival #15 Michigan State on NBC

VERSUS’ Game of the Week Features Texas Tech at New Mexico

“Last year's BIG 10 Champions will visit South Bend in a must-win game for the Irish.” - Roland Williams

“In the Red Raiders opener, the offense was held to nine points in the first half. That should give New Mexico confidence that, if they rally to the football and tackle well, they can have success on Saturday.” - Shaun King on Texas Tech

NEW YORK (September 15, 2011) –The NBC Sports Group will air two college football games this Saturday when Notre Dame faces #15 Michigan State on NBC and the New Mexico Lobos hosts the Texas Tech Red Raiders on VERSUS; both games begin at 3:30 p.m. ET.

VERSUS will surround its and NBC’s college football game coverage this season with pre- and post-game studio shows from NBC’s Football Night in America studio (Studio 8G) at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The pre-game show begins this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET and will be hosted by Liam McHugh with 1984 Heisman Trophy-winner Doug Flutie and Super Bowl champion and former NFL tight end Roland Williams serving as studio analysts. Additionally, Peter King of Sports Illustrated and Football Night in America and Mike Florio of ProfootballTalk will join the studio crew at halftime with NFL insider information.

COMMENTATORS – NBC will team play-by-play commentator Tom Hammond with analyst Mike Mayock and sideline reporter Alex Flanagan. Paul Burmeister, the former University of Iowa quarterback and host for NFL Network, will helm VERSUS’ Mountain West Conference coverage and be joined by former NFL quarterback Shaun King as analyst and former NFL defensive end Anthony Herron as sideline analyst. VERSUS and NBC will have an analyst reporting from the sidelines for all college football games to provide first-person analysis from the field and interact with the booth commentators.

WILLIAMS ON NOTRE DAME: “Notre Dame must draw a line in the sand and make this game their launch pad to a positive season. For Notre Dame, the emergence of a leader at the quarterback position in Tommy Rees is just what the offense needed to match the intensity of Michigan State’s offense and its senior trigger man quarterback Kirk Cousins.”

WILLIAMS ON NEW MEXICO: “For the Lobos, quarterback Tarean Austin, the true sophomore has led the team with only one interception this season. Now, the Lobos have to show their worth against Texas Tech or face the prospect of winning six of nine to become bowl eligible. New Mexico looks to get its first win of the season versus one of college football's highest scoring offenses.”

KING ON TEXAS TECH: “Texas Tech head coach Tommy Tuberville starts his second season with great expectations for the teams’ new quarterback Seth Doege and their inexperienced, but very talented defense.”

NOTRE DAME EXTRA: All of NBC’s Notre Dame games will be streamed live on NBCSports.com. “Notre Dame Extra” will feature a simulcast of the broadcast feed in full HD quality plus one additional online-only bonus camera. The video player will include picture-in-picture capability and full DVR functionality, allowing the user to pause the live video and even review plays in “slo-mo.”
