“GMA” Saturday and Sunday Each Attract Most-Watched 3rd Quarter & Season Audiences Ever

 “GMA” Saturday Posts Smallest Total Viewing Gap Ever with NBC’s “Saturday Today” for a Quarter

“GMA” Sunday Only Morning News Program to Increase Compared to Previous Quarter 

“GMA” Saturday 3Q 2011:

 

For the 3rd Quarter 2011, “Good Morning America Saturday” drew 2.950 million Total Viewers and 1.084 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  Building on the year-ago quarter for the 2nd year in a row in both Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 25-54 (+3%),  the ABC program drew its largest-ever Total Viewer 3rd quarter audience and 2nd-best in the key adult news demo – since debuting in its current format in September 2004.  In addition, “GMA Saturday” saw the largest year-ago quarter growth in Total Viewers among the Saturday morning network programs (NBC’s “Saturday Today” was up by +6%; CBS’ “Saturday Early Show” was up by +8%).

 

“GMA Saturday” outdrew CBS’ “Saturday Early Show” by 1.329 million Total Viewers (2.950 million vs. 1.621 million) and by 509,000 Adults 25-54 viewers (1.084 million vs. 575,000) during 3Q11, beating the CBS program by its largest margins ever during a 3rd quarter.  Looking at all quarters, “GMA Saturday” turned in its 2nd strongest-ever lead in Total Viewers.

 

For the 2nd quarter in a row, “GMA Saturday” narrowed its margins with NBC’s “Saturday Today” versus the previous quarter by double-digits in both Total Viewers (-26% - 664000 vs. 893,000) and Adults 25-54 (-16% 276,000 vs. 327,000)In fact, “GMA Saturday” scored its narrowest quarter gap ever in Total Viewers versus the NBC morning program.

 

2010-11 Season:

 

For the 2010-11 television season, “Good Morning America Saturday” attracted 3.020 million Total Viewers and 1.135 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  Growing its Total Viewer count from the previous season by +9%, the ABC program drew is largest-ever Total Viewer season audiencesince debuting in its current format in September 2004.  In fact, the ABC morning program has increased in overall viewers in every season since it debuted.

 

“GMA Saturday” narrowed its margins with “Saturday Today” in Total Viewers by -2% (963,000 vs. 985,000) compared to the previous to post its second-smallest season gap ever.

 

“GMA Saturday” outperformed CBS’ “Saturday Early Show” by its largest season margins ever in both Total Viewers (1.244 million) and Adults 25-54 (493,000).

GMA “Sunday” 3Q 2011:

 

For the 3rd Quarter 2011, “Good Morning America Sunday” attracted 2.957 million Total Viewers and 1.081 million Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  Growing quarter-to-quarter in both Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%),  the ABC program generated its largest-ever Total Viewer quarter audience and 2nd-best in the key adult news demo – since debuting in its current format in September 2004.  Additionally, “GMA Sunday” stood as the only Sunday morning network program to improve on the previous quarter (NBC’s “Sunday Today” was down by -11% and -9%, respectively; CBS’ “Sunday” was down by -12% and -11%, respectively).

 

“GMA Sunday” surged from the year-ago quarter by 24% in Total Viewers and by 23% in Adults 25-54, up more than both NBC’s “Sunday Today” (+7% and +9%, respectively) and CBS’ “Sunday” (+3% and -4%, respectively).   

 

2010-11 Season:

 

“Good Morning, America Sunday” drew 2.825 million Total Viewers and 1.032 million Adults 25-54 during the 2010-11 television season, according to Nielsen Media Research.  With increases over the previous season for the 2nd year in a row in both Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%),  the 2010-11 season marked “GMA Sunday’s” best performance ever in both Nielsen measures since debuting in its current format in September 2004.  In fact, the ABC morning program has added viewers to its Total Viewer count in every season since it debuted.

 

“GMA Sunday” improved the most year to year among the Sunday morning newscasts in overall viewers and in the key adult news demo (NBC’s “Sunday Today” was up by +5% and +2%, respectively; CBS’ “Sunday Morning” was up by +4% and down by -6%, respectively).
