14 Texas Women’s Basketball Games Slated for Longhorn Network in 2011-12
Big 12 Home Matchups and Non-Conference Games to Begin Nov. 11
Fourteen University of Texas women’s basketball games will air exclusively this season on Longhorn Network, including six Big 12 Conference games. For the first time in school history, every Texas women’s basketball home game will have live television coverage and commentary. Added to the previously announced Texas men’s basketball schedule, the network will feature 26 UT basketball games during the 2011-12 season.
“Fans can expect telecasts with high production value and in-depth storytelling. In addition, we will follow the team throughout the season on Longhorn Extra, providing analysis, opinion and behind-the-scenes access,” said Stephanie Druley, Vice President of Production for Longhorn Network.
The Texas women will open their season live on the Longhorn Network on Friday, Nov. 11, taking on national powerhouse Stanford, who reached the Final Four last season. The network will also televise a variety of programs that will introduce the Longhorn players and coaching staff, while providing inside reports as the team competes against a challenging lineup.
Gail Goestenkors, head women’s basketball coach at Texas, said, “Texas women’s basketball has a terrific television ‘home’ in the Longhorn Network. Our fans are going to enjoy 14 first-class productions that will remind them of Final Four telecasts that ESPN has developed over the last 16 years. The game coverage and the beyond-the-court access that LHN can provide fans and women’s college basketball viewers alike are simply second-to-none.”
