ESPN’s media platforms (ESPN3, ESPN Deportes and ESPN2) will feature 21 live soccer matches, mostly from eight different leagues, beginning today, Thursday, September 29, through Tuesday, Oct. 4.  Highlights:

  • Tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes, the Philadelphia Union will host DC United as both teams fight for the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs.  The match will also feature Union’s Freddy Adu as he faces his former DC United club for the first time;
  • The first meeting of two Merseyside derbies (Everton vs. Liverpool) in the season, the Premiership’s longest-running top-flight derby, will be carried on ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes, on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 a.m.;
  • ESPN3 will feature two matches with the top-two Italian Serie A teams in 2010-2011 season – Inter Milanvs. Napoli on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2:40 p.m., and Juventus vs. AC Milan on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 2:40 p.m.;
  • Espanyol vs. Ronaldo and Real Madrid FC on ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes (Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3:55 p.m.), highlights a weekend of three matches from Spain’s La Liga on ESPN platforms;
  • New York Red Bulls vs. Los Angeles Galaxy, the matchup of Major League Soccer’s greatest collection of talent with five designated players (Red Bulls – Thierry Henry, Rafa Márquez and Frank Rost; Galaxy – David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane), will be aired on ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes, on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at 8 p.m.
