It was the first season for TV by the Numbers, when ABC rookie drama Eli Stone was renewed (May, 2008) after being on the bubble for much of the writers strike scrambled season. Returning for a second season in Fall 2008, its ratings crashed and it didn't survive past its 13 episode order that Fall. The histories of Pushing Daisies and Dirty, Sexy Money were similar although their ratings were higher in both seasons than Eli Stone's, but I'm saving my analogies with those two for later!
looks like it may be headed down the same path in its second season. It got the "we didn't cancel all our rookie dramas" renewal last season (V got it the season before), and it has started the 2011-12 season on a downward trend. That, combined with the fact that the rest of ABC's shows (besides Charlie's ) are doing well so far, indicates that Dana Delaney fans may wish to rev up their futile "Save Our Show" efforts early!
Charlie's headlined last week's ABC Renew/Cancel post is a dead show airing. Enjoy it while you can. You may see all 13 episodes that were ordered, or you may not., which
All the rest of ABC's scripted shows got off to a pretty good (or better) start.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 averageby the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.
