NEW YORK—October 12, 2011—BET reigned supreme with a night of incredible programming drawing in millions of viewers for the premiere of the BET HIP HOP AWARDS and. On Tuesday, October 11 theBET HIP HOP AWARDS 2011 premiere telecast at 8:00 P.M.* drew in 4.1 million viewers among 2.6 million households garnering a 2.91 coverage making this the #1 BET HIP HOP AWARDS in BET history and the #1 Hip Hop themed telecast on TV for the past six consecutive years. , BET’s newest sitcom, launched on October 11 at 10:00 P.M.* with back-to-back premiere episodes to an incredible 3.3 million viewers among 2.3 million household and 2.9 million viewers among 2.0 million households respectively.
The BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2011 posted double-digit gains compared to the 2010 telecast with double-digit gains among adults (up 16%). Currently, this is the #1 BET telecast for the 2011-12 season and the back to back premiere episodes ofare BET’s best original series telecasts ever in fourth quarter. The REED BETWEEN THE LINES premiere episodes are also the top two cable sitcom telecasts this season among total viewers. To date, every original series launched on BET in 2011 has averaged more than 1 million total viewers.
On the digital side, the BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2011 garnered a powerful response from its audience. According to Trendrr.tv, the BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2011 was the #1 social TV program on cable for October 11 with 1.5 million interactions. Top trending topics on Twitter were traced back to the telecast’s explosive cyphers including “HI RIHANNA,” “SHADY 2.0” and “#TWITTERCYPHER.” The BET HIP HOP AWARDS 2011 also set a record for BET.com traffic, which was up 70% compared to last year’s broadcast.
