“GMA” Posts Smallest Season-to-Date Total Viewer Gap with NBC’s “Today” in 4 Years

 

For the 9th Consecutive Week, “GMA” Cuts Total Viewing and Demo Gaps with “Today” Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date

 

“GMA” Increases Most Among Total Viewers and Stands as Only Morning Program to Grow in Demo Year-to-Year and Season-to-Date

 

 

ABC News’ “Good Morning America” drew 4.936 Total Viewers and 1.6/11/1.920 million Adults 25-54 for the week of November 14, 2011.  Coming off the prior week’s season-high performance with viewers, “GMA” drew its 2nd-largest Total Viewer count of the season – since w/o 9/19/11.

 

For the 9th time in as many weeks this season, “GMA” improved on the year-ago in Total Viewers (+6%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%). “GMA” once again improved the most year to year in Total Viewers and stood as the only morning newscast to grow in the key adult news demo (NBC’s “Today” was up by +1% and down by -6%, respectively; CBS’ “Early Show” was down -11% and -10%, respectively).

 

“GMA” decreased its week-to-week gap with “Today” in Total Viewers (-17% - 680,000 vs. 815,000)For the 9th week consecutive week this season, “GMA” narrowed its margins with “Today” from the same week last year by double-digits in both Total Viewers (-26% - 680,000 vs. 917,000) and Adults 25-54 (-35% - 537,000 vs. 823,000).  Season to date, “GMA” narrowed its gaps in both Total Viewers (-44%) and Adults 25-54 (-37%) versus its year-ago season gaps, posting its smallest margins (534,000 and 493,000, respectively) with “Today” in 4 years – since the 2007-08 season.

 

“GMA” topped CBS’ “Early Show” by 2.338 million Total Viewers (4.936 million vs. 2.598 million) and by 854,000 Adults 25-54 (1.920 million vs. 1.066 million).

 

Season to date “GMA” is up the most among the network morning news programs in Total Viewers (+12%), and is the only morning program to grow in Adults 25-54 (+12%) versus its year-ago averages (NBC’s “Today” is up +2% and down -4%, respectively; CBS’ “Early Show” is down -6% and -8%, respectively).  “GMA” is seeing its largest overall season audience in 4 years – since the 2007-08 season.

 

Emmy Award-winning “GMA,” featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Sam Champion, Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott, airs live Mon.-Fri. (7:00-9:00 a.m., ET) on ABC. James Goldston is senior executive producer and Tom Cibrowski is executive producer.
