Hallmark Channel rides the wave of success to the top with the conclusion of its record-breaking “Countdown to Christmas” original movie premieres. The 14 original holiday movie premieres boosted Hallmark Channel to rank #1 in weekend prime time (Sat-Sun 8-11pm) among W25-54 rating during holiday 2011-to-date (11/5-12/18). Combined, the 2011 “Countdown to Christmas” original holiday premieres have reached more than 22.1 million unduplicated viewers. This season’s final two original movies, “Christmas Magic” and “Christmas Comes Home to Canaan”, delivered a 2.6 HH rating and 2.0 HH rating, respectively.

 

Hallmark Channel has delivered the #1 movie of the week on ad-supported cable for the past six consecutive weeks, a winning streak that culminated with the Sunday, December 18thpremiere of “Christmas Magic”. “Christmas Magic” also ranked as the #2 rated program among HH on ad-supported cable. Among the key demo of W25-54, “Christmas Magic” was the #1 rated ad-supported cable movie for the day as well as the #2 movie of the week. In the Sunday 8p-10p time period, the film placed in the top 10 for key demo ratings, including #1 in HH (2.6) and P2+ (1.3).

 

“Christmas Comes Home to Canaan” scored as the #2 rated ad-supported cable movie for Saturday, December 17th and was the #3 ad-supported cable movie of the week. “Christmas Comes Home to Canaan” boosted Hallmark Channel to be the #1 rated cable network for the entire day among W25-54 rating (.7). The premieres of “Christmas Magic” and “Christmas Comes Home to Canaan” reached a combined audience of more than 7.2 million unduplicated viewers.

 

“Christmas Comes Home to Canaan” picks up with Daniel Burton’s son, Bobber, in need of extensive orthopedic surgery and intensive physical therapy to recover from a terrible accident. Daniel and Bobber fly to San Francisco in hopes that the surgery will allow Bobber to walk again. It is in San Francisco that Daniel meets a Briony Adair, a beautiful physical rehabilitation specialist assigned to help Bobber with his recovery. However, when Bobber invites Briony to come home to Canaan to spend Christmas with the Burtons and continue his treatment, things do not go as planned. Will Briony and Daniel’s love survive? The film stars Billy Ray Cyrus, Liam James, and Gina Holden.

 

After a terrible car accident, Carrie Blackford must earn her wings in heaven as a guardian angel to Scott Walker and his daughter Abby in “Christmas Magic”. Carrie’s last task on Earth is to help guide a young, widowed restaurant owner, Scott Walker, who has recently considered suicide because his failing restaurant/ catering business. As their friendship grows, the romance blooms, and Carrie struggles to keep business and pleasure separate. Will the heat in Scott’s kitchen be all about the food? Or is one Angel on a meteoric rise to earn her wings? “Christmas Magic” stars Lindy Booth and Paul McGillion.
