GMC Announces Record-Setting First Week of 2012
Week One Success Comes on Heels of Best Year (2011), Best Quarter (Q4), Best Month (December) in Network’s History;
2nd Fastest Growing Ad Supported Cable Net in 2011in Total Day HH and A18-49.
ATLANTA, Jan. 4, 2012-- GMC, America’s favorite television channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, announced today that its tremendous growth in 2011, fueled by GMC World Premiere Movies and World Premiere Gospel Plays, is continuing in the New Year with a record-setting first week of 2012.
For the week beginning Dec. 26, the official start of the 2012 ratings season, GMC was up 171% over the same period last year in total household. (source 1) The week was GMC’s highest ever in total households, A25-54, W25-54, A18-49 and W18-49 (source 2), with year-to-year delivery gains scoring in triple digits: total households +203%, A25-54 + 250%, W25-54 +230%, A18-49 +227%, W18-49 +229%. The strong start to 2012 follows major gains in 2011 against key demos, resulting in the network’s best-ever year (2011), quarter (Q4) and month (December) among A25-54 and A18-49, and W25-54 and W18-49. (source 4). For the year, GMC was the second fastest growing ad supported cable network in total day households and A18-49. (source 5)
Among W25-54 total day, GMC was up 170% in December over the same month a year ago, +82% in Q4 and 27% year-over-year. Gains in other key demos included W18-49 (December +175%, Q4 +78%, year +50%), A25-54 (December +171%, Q4 + 75%, year +25%), and A18-49 (December +200%, Q4 +92%, year +42%). (source 6)
Capping off the banner year was GMC’s most-watched World Premiere Movie, The Heart of Christmas, which was viewed by more than 3.6 million viewers during its premiere cycle in December (source 7). And GMC’s newest series, “She’s Still Not Our Sister,” premiered in December with more than 1.4 million viewers tuning to its premiere cycle (source 8).
