THE “CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY” TIES ABC IN ADULTS 25-54 FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE SEPTEMBER 2006
“CBS THIS MORNING” DEBUT DELIVERS +5% RATINGS BOOST COMPARED TO PREVIOUS MONDAYS
The new year delivered strong ratings growth in the mornings and evenings for CBS News. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY tied ABC in adults 25-54 according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week of Jan. 2, 2012. CBS EVENING NEWS was in its closest competitive position with ABC since the week of Sept. 25, 2006. CBS EVENING NEWS was the only network news broadcast to post year-to-year gains in households (4.5/08 from 4.2/08, +7%), viewers (6.65m from 6.33m, +5%) and adults 25-54 (1.7/06 from 1.5/05, +13%) compared to the same week last year.
The debut of CBS THIS MORNING delivered a +5% ratings boost compared to previous Mondays in December (excluding holidays), according to preliminary Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Monday, Jan. 9, 2012.
