We've recently made the acquaintance of the friendly and helpful folks at Rentrak, who some readers may know as Nielsen competitors in the TV viewing measurement business.
There may be different ratings information we get from them going forward, but one thing we can get, and that I thought might be interesting is to look at are the relative ratings for different TV shows in different TV markets.
The first show I asked for geographic ratings for was Fringe, a TVBTN reader favorite (and anti-favorite).
Looking at the data, I'm not sure if any trends can be teased out (Packers fans are Fringe fans?). Perhaps readers more insightful than I am can figure something out. Enjoy, and depending on how much traffic this post generates, I may do it again.
How to read the map: The markets are color coded based on their relative ratings Index. 100 = the US national average rating for Fringe. 50 = half the US national average rating for Fringe, etc. The individual markers are clickable, and I've included the entire set of data below for those who want to go crazy with their own analysis.
