Fox News Tops Cable News Coverage of State of the Union Address; Cable News Ratings for Tuesday, January 24, 2012

The regular ratings should be added soon, but FOX News Channel was the most-watched cable news channel for the SOTU coverage, averaging 3.8 million viewers during President Obama’s State of the Union Speech last night.  Additionally, FNC topped the other nets during the analysis and during coverage of the Republican response.

SOTU Speech (9:11PM-10:16/17PM):

FNC: 3,812,000 viewers (1,143,000 in 25-54)
CNN: 2,670,000 viewers (1,054,000 in 25-54)
MSNBC: 2,817,000 viewers (818,000 in 25-54)

SOTU Speech Analysis (10:16/17PM-10:28PM):

FNC: 4,249,000 viewers (1,303,000 in 25-54)
CNN: 2,653,000 viewers (1,047,000 in 25-54)
MSNBC: 2,726,000 viewers (768,000 in 25-54)

Republican Response (10:28-until about 10:35/40PM):

FNC: 4,221,000 viewers (1,222,000 in 25-54)
CNN: 2,203,000 viewers (806,000 in 25-54)
MSNBC: 2,411,000 viewers (686,000 in 25-54)
