More Than 60% Of Netflix Streaming Is TV Shows, Not Movies

If you're into things Netflix there's more in this LA Times article for you, but for me, the one interesting bit of data was:

More than 60% of the 2 billion-plus hours of video streamed by Netflix subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2011 originated on the small screen.

And in the long run there's far more television content available, and probably much cheaper, to Netflix than there is movie content.

I'm not so sure about their attempts at original content development. That sounds like either an expensive PR move, or a futile ego bolster. I think Netflix's streaming strength will prove to be past seasons of TV shows for the forseeable future.
