'American Idol' Ratings In 200 Cities; Have Live Viewers Become The Biggest Fans?

In the fifth in a series of posts with relative geographic TV market ratings information from the helpful folks at Rentrak, we've got a map of the relative TV ratings in 200 markets for Fox's top rated show American Idol.

Interestingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, American Idol has almost all of its high indexing TV markets in the Eastern and Central Time zones where it airs live in the latter part of its season (although the period covered by this data had few if any live shows, perhaps over the years people who will ultimately see it live have become bigger fans). Only three cities in the two highest groupings are in non-live markets.

How to read the map: The markets are color coded based on their relative ratings Index. 100 = the US national average rating for the show. 50 = half the US national average rating for the show, 200= twice the national average rating for the show, etc. The individual markers are clickable, and I've included the entire set of data below for those who want to go crazy with their own analysis.
