‘ABC World News with Diane Sawyer’ Grows Total Viewing and Demo Audiences Week-to-Week

Week of February 27, 2012

For the week of February 27, 2012, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 8.03 million Total Viewers and a 1.8 rating/6 share/2.20 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  Growing over the previous week in both Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+4%), “World News” hit 5-week highs in both Nielsen measures – since w/o 1/23/12.   

For the 2nd year in a row, “World News” has cut its season-to-date gaps with “NBC Nightly News” in both Total Viewers (-6%) and Adults 25-54 (-16%), posting its smallest Total Viewer (1.09 million) and news demo margins (374,000) with the NBC program in 3 years – since the 2008-09 season.

“ABC World News” topped the “CBS Evening News” by 1.21 million Total Viewers and by 143,000 Adults 25-54, posting its largest Total Viewer lead in 3 weeks – since w/o 2/6/12.

February 2012 Sweep

For the February 2012 sweep, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” delivered 7.93 million Total Viewers and a 1.8 rating/6 share/2.13 million among Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  “World News” grew its demo audience compared to the previous sweep (2.12 million – November 2011)

“World News” outperformed CBS’ “Evening News” by 1.25 million Total Viewers and by 101,000 Adults 25-54 viewers during the February 2012 sweep.

“ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” airs at 6:30 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.  Michael Corn is the executive producer of the broadcast.
