It's certain that CBS will cancel A Gifted Man and Unforgettable, as well as at least one of the CSI offspring (NY or Miami). More sitcom time could save Rules of Engagement and/or Rob, but without it, they're both likely gone too.

Two and a Half Men will certainly be renewed. It's just a matter of settling how much Ashton Kutcher will get paid. Somewhere between a lot and a whole bunch is my guess.

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did CBS' shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Was afraid to look at this with cancellations – as A Gifted Man AND Unforgettable are both excellent entertainment – and have fabulous casts that work so well together – was hooked on 1st episodes for both. . .very disappointing!

  • Brian Price

I was really bummed when Law and Order and Law and Order “LA” ended. I had watched Law and Order since the early 90’s and the “LA” version since it started just a couple of years ago. The more I watched A Gifted Man, the more I liked it, but CBS will probably bow to the powers that be and cancel it. It’s bad enough that we have to have 20 minutes of mundain commercials to interrupt great shows like, Blue Bloods, CSI NY, etc….. Not many 18 to 54 year olds stay at home to watch TV. They would rather be at the clubs or concerts!

  • rox

DON’T cancel A Gifted Man and Unforgettable. Those are my two new favorite shows!!! And they are good quality shows. Your keeping the slutty/smutty shows. What about those of us who like wholesome and good?

  • rox

Oops, that should have been “you’re” not ‘your’.

  • Lois Maglione

The Gifted Man, Unforgetble, BlueBloods, The Closer, and Revenge are the best shows on TV. Why would you take them off? I don’t understand it, when these shows really work and are entertaining you remove them,
why when they work and people enjoy and look forward to them?Guess I will have to go back to cable like I did for years until these shows came on. Don’t Understand when eveyone I talk to feels the same way. When something works don’t fix it!!!

  • Ann Esposito

I am 88 years old,my daughter is 58 and we both truly enjoy The Gifted Man, Bluebloods,Unforgettable and Revenge. The only thing I look forward to are these shows, the best on TV right now! Why would you take off truly entertaining shows with great acting and writing and replace with something that probably won’t work? We are the public and our opinion counts, wake up

Unforgetable is a great show. Your poll simply has to be wrong. Do another one. Fringe can go anytime. It’s boring. I’ve never heard of a Gifted Man. Bring on UNFORGETABLE.

  • Cate

A Gifted Man was such a nice change from the “cookie-cutter” CSI type stuff. The story lines don’t have to be trapped in a tunnel…..there is such room to grow this series…work with it, don’t take it off

  • sarah

I feel that The Gifted Man and Unforgetable should continue. I don’t believe they had enough time for viewers to find them. Maybe different time slots…. I’m sad because I really liked both of them.

  • Connerman

I think The Gifted Man was one of the best new shows, just on at a tough time Friday nights to pick up a audience. I suggest moving the program to Monday or a week night and give these strong characters and story line another shot.

  • Tom

I cannot believe you are canceling “A Gifted Man” and “Unforgetable”. Especially “A Gifted Man”. Especially when you are keeping some of these canned laughter sitcoms.
I don’t watch 2 & 1/2 Men much any more. It is not even close to what it use to be. Bring back Charlie if you can get him. Aston is a nice guy but not even in the same ball park as Charlie.
I thought CBS was doing great. I love the New Morning Show. I thought the new threesome was a stroke of genius.
But dropping “A Gifted Man: blows me away. What is CBS thinking? You have a great new…fesh cast. Good writing about good subject matter.
If you can’t see the light let NBC, ABC or Fox do the show.

I love Unforgetable and The gifted Man-please don’t take these away

  • Terri

I am very disappointed that the Gifted man was canceled, I really looked forward to watching it, I thought they finally put on a good show, and then they canceled it, it doesn’t make sense. Put it back on and cancel some of the garbage you’ve renewed

  • Domitila, from Brazil

Eu aaaaaamo THE GIFTED MAN, por favor não cancelem!!!

  • Joe

I think it is terrible to cancel gifted man and keep something like the good wife and some of the others. I feel like CBS can make this work by changing the day or time. This is one of the best shows that my wife and I thoroughly enjoy together. Hopefully something can be negotiated and you will bring the show back.

  • Donna

A Gifted Man has been one of the most enjoyable shows to watch this season and it’s a show most of the family can watch – please don’t cancel! Take off one of the “tired” shows and please have the show reruns for season 1. Just remember from past years how big the medical shows turned out to be – it is just great not to see another police or science lab show

Please do not cancel a gifted man – it has been one of the best new shows to watch this season that’s not another science lab or police show. bring it back instead of another comedy or reality? show! Friday night was one of the best tv lineups for cbs!

  • Cheryl

I cannot believe that the “Gifted Man” and “Unforgettable” are being cancelled. We need to view real actors on the screen … the reality shows are for the brain dead viewers. If anything, split the time with the shows. Six months for one show and six months for another. CBS, you do realize that you are putting people OUT OF WORK!!! Yes, CBS, the actors and writers, etc are considered people. I’m deciding whether to even watch CBS anymore.

  • Marcie McKinney

My husband & I both love to watch a Gifted man! It is such an interesting & rewarding show! The only thing we think they could do without is the appearance of the dead wife!!
