ABC’s “Nightline” stood as the No. 1 program in latenight across each of the key target demos: Total Viewers (4.022 million), Adults 25-54 (1.547 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.158 million), for the week of March 26, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” has ranked No. 1 in all 3 measures for the 4th time in the last 5 weeks.
“Nightline” increased over the previous week in Total Viewers (+11%), Adults 25-54 (+8%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%) to hit a 6-week high – best since w/o 2/13/12.
Season to date, “Nightline” ranks No. 1 in latenight among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, ahead of both NBC’s “The Tonight Show” and CBS’ “The Late Show.” This marks the 2nd straight year that the ABC program is taking the top spot in overall viewers and in the key adult news demo.
During the week of March 26 Nightline covered stories including the Mega Millions mania, the Pope's historic visit to Cuba, girls and binge drinking and the Trayvon Martin case. We interviewed Kate Winslet on the Titanic anniversary and James Cameron on the historic movie and his trip to the Marianas. We also aired and investigation into the unregulated sales of so called whippets and Bill Weir, who took us inside Apple last month, broke the story of the audit results of the Apple factory.
