Each week we get plenty of comments from Ashton Kutcher anti-fans (or Charlie Sheen fans?)  of the "Two and a Half Men sucks now, next season will be its last," "Without Charlie Sheen the show is unwatchable" ilk.

But pans from anti-fans (or "critics") are irrelevant to the show's future, only the ratings matter, and since January, Two and a Half Men has been CBS' second highest rated show (after TBBT). I'm sure it wasn't renewed with the big batch of CBS shows a few weeks ago because Kutcher's giant payday is still being wrangled over, but it will be.

It's certain that CBS will cancel A Gifted Man and Unforgettable, as well as at least one of the CSI offspring (NY or Miami). More sitcom time could save Rules of Engagement and/or Rob, but without it, they're both likely gone too.

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did CBS' shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Two and a Half men withou charlie sheen is li a plane without wings, will stay on the air for a little, while it smacks the cold ground ! I good latin rodiculis-unfunnycus !

  • Petar

Hm, while looking for Upfronts days look what i found:

“The crime drama emerging as the frontrunner at the network on the drama side. Also picked up is comedy frontrunner Two Broke Girls!”

“Crime drama” is PoI off course! So, CBS are really good in testing and scouting! Perfect judgement! From the begining they selected frontrunner for drama and frontrunner for sitcom with 100% success! The other CEOs and entertainment boss must learn from CBS! I guess thats why CBS boss is highest paid media CEO!

And if they go with this Thursday lineup – TBBT-2BG-POI the fact that 2BG and PoI are from same year – 2011 will help them in next years because will age together!

If POI does turn out to be their next franchise drama than again CBS can go with 2 hour comedy block! PoI will go to tuesday after NCIS or in 8! In the end, it’s all in the hands of CBS.

ps All other networks want to have CBS problems! I mean seriously NBC&ABC will kill for CBS “tough decisions”! FOX also stay with only 2 singing reality shows one of wich so underperform!
