Two seasons ago I was cheered as Melrose Place brought back the lovely (and my age peer) Heather Locklear in an attempt to save the ratings challenged show. Sadly for fans, we know how that ended.

The return of Sarah Michelle Gellar (just a child compared to Heather and I) in Ringer was certainly hoped to draw some Buffy-like ratings magic. Sadly, that's going to end in the same result. Ringer is likely to be canceled at the end of this season

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did the CW's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Ringer gets a 0.7 with DVr while Hart gets 0.8-1.0 &Ringer got a 0.6 in w18-34 while GG and Hart of Dixie got 0.9. Ringers been getting 0.4-0.5 for a long time and is the lowest rated cw show and is the new show that lost the most viewers(demo &total) and lately it’s been getting only a little over a million viewers, plus it’s being pulled before the May Sweeps (when ad rates are set for next season)and before the other cw shows with full seasons also read the three cw cancel/renewal indexes where it says Ringer will be cancelled along with Nikita and possibly Hart/Secret Circle and according to soilertv & tvbtn Ringer got a 0.5 last night not a 0.6 or 0.8 @zap2it)and was preemted so it may be adjusted down. there is NO HOPE For Ringer!

  • Charmed

@Sophia, 0.6, actually, and if all of their other shows are going down, I’m sure they’ll be the tiniest bit happy when a show’s ratings up.

  • WB

Below is the show’s season averages based on total viewers with The Vampire Diaries being the most watched and Gossip Girl being the least!

    The Vampire Diaries 2.90
    The Secret Circle 1.97
    Supernatural 1.77
    Hart of Dixie 1.61
    Nikita 1.54
    Ringer 1.51
    90210 1.39
    Gossip Girl 1.22

To be honest and in my opinion, I think Gossip Girl’s Season 5 should be it’s last! I mean, the show is obviously done! The CW has already renewed ANTM (which should really be cancelled too)The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and The Secret Circle and along with Hart of Dixie should be renewed!

  • EatMorePez

What happened to all of the comments? BTW, returning babes might end up going 0-3 if Rachel Bilson’s “Hart of Dixie” gets the ax.

  • Ringer Fan

I’m starting to fear the worst. Ringer will be canceled. I hope the CW adds one more episode to bring closure. I also hope that maybe Ringer can be sold to another network, possible cable. The story line is a bit far-fetched at times making it difficult for the talent to come across as believable. Ringer was never boring. You were always suprised. I never watched Buffy or any SMG movies, but she was fantastic playing her 5 different roles. Let’s hope for a miracle just like in the show. If not, then best of luck to all the Ringer folks. Hope the season finale keeps us all guessing.

    @WB

The CW cares about women 18-34, adults 18-34, and adults 18-49 much more than they care about total viewers. Because advertisers trying to sell cosmetics and tampons, don’t really care if a bunch of men over the age of 50 are watching The Secret Circle. (And yes, TSC does quite well in adults 50+, nearly 3 times as well as 90210.)

    @Ringer Fan

I’ve watched every episode of Ringer, so I’m not hating, but it’s over. Since next week is the last episode, there’s no chance of another episode being added.

How GG still has 4 smileys? The ratings are just ugly at this point and it would only get worse next season.

Where have the comments gone again?

  • Kyle

The problem with the CW’s shows are:

Gossip Girl is the least watched scripted show in basic cable (average of 1.2 million viewers), and fans says (and I agree) that the show has become boring. The storylines are repetitive. It should had ended in the fourth season. The network will probably pick up 3-4 new shows for the fall. And i believe that Gossip Girl will be most likely renewed to a final and shortened season (I really can’t see the show going to a 7th season) because it hold onto a 0.5 rating.

The Secret Circle only retains about 50-60% of TVD’s strong ratings. In the past 2 years, Supernatural retained above 70% and Nikita was strong in viewers. For that reason it should been a toss-up.

Ringer should remain as a toss-up because most of the episodes from the season’s second half aired after a repeat. Ratings dropped between 2011-2012 because the first 4 episodes were really slow. The storylines began to take-off in the last 9 episodes, when Andrea Roth joined the cast.

Nikita have the Friday-Factor and strong viewership. If it can rise after the April 20’s episode then there could be hope.

For the 2012-2013 I want the CW to put Supernatural after TVD again, Ringer and Nikita to receive 13 episodes order and be paired together in Friday nights (which skews older), HOD airing after ANTM, and I wish that 90210 and TSC could be cancelled.

And for people saying that Ringer is a dissapointment because it was promoted a lot, let’s not forget that Ringer lead-out of a 0.6-0.7 rating while TSC lead-out of a 1.3-1.5 rating. And TSC is way more promoted than Ringer. Also, being postponed 3 weeks did hurt Ringer’s ratings. There, I rest my case.

Where have all the comments gone?

  • KS

    @Bill and Robert

What happened to the website comments? Please a formal word would be nice.

  • PrettyLittleLiars

The CW ONLY care about A18-49 !
So don’t try to invent excuses !

Hart Of Dixie & RINGER will be cancelled.

  • One @ KS

Check the Tuesday Ratings post. It explains all.

  • Ginger

Gossip Girl supposedly makes up for its lack of viewers by the ad rates people are willing to pay for it, iTunes & DVD sales, and international licensing. I think with 100 episodes in the can and all the actors under contact for another seasons, the CW will renew it.

Ringer wasn’t the star vehicle for Sarah Michelle Gellar (the actress formerly known as Buffy) that the CW had hoped for. With the rating being what that are (even with an incompatible lead-in like 90210) and the CW pulling repeats and ending the season early for a rebroadcast of a Canadian series The LA Complex, it’s pretty obviously this show won’t be back.

Heart of Dixie is more on brand for the CW and they’ve tried airing repeats elsewhere, but nothing is really sticking. They also ordered another medical series pilot: First Cut. I think that means they like the idea of a medical series, but not Heart of Dixie’s. They also ordered two other pilots from Josh schwartz (The Carrie Diaries & Cult) and will probably pick up Gossip Girl. I don’t think this show will be back.

The Secret Circle isn’t hold as much of The Vampire Diaries audience as Supernatural or Nikita did, but it also airs in a heavily competitive time period. The CW also aired an entire week of this show. I think as long as rating are steady, the CW is will give this show another chance with in a new time slot.

Nikita airs on Fridays a night full of lowered expectations. It’s supposed to do better internationally, but doesn’t command the same ad rates, Netflix rates or iTunes sales as Gossip Girl. Mark Pedowitz, the new network president, is allegedly a NIkita fan. I think that could get the show a 13-episode stay of execution.

90210 is the strongest of it’s teen dramas, so it’ll be picked up. Plus, it’ll hit 100 episodes next season and give CBS Studios and Warner Brothers that syndication money it craves.

Top Model is cheap to producer and full of product placements, so even with sagging ratings, it’ll get picked up.

Vampire Diaries and Supernatural are the two highest rated shows, so they’ll obviously get renewed.

Take your own time. But make sure, you get a new comment database with EDIT, LIKE, DISLIKE buttons at least in the new one. You have mentioned a few months back that traffic has been enormously increased on your website. So, please provide us with better “facilities” on your website.

“@Sophia, 0.6, actually, and if all of their other shows are going down, I’m sure they’ll be the tiniest bit happy when a show’s ratings up.”

No, a 0.5. If you can’t read the ratings why are even on this site?

  • Wagner

Some Ratings of CW shows: (Average – Repeats not included)
    The Vampire Diaries: 2.903 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 1.3
    The Secret Circle: 1.975 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.8
    One Tree Hill: 1.480 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.8
    Supernatural: 1.770 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.7
    Hart of Dixie: 1.619 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.7
    90210: 1.396 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.7
    Gossip Girl: 1.220 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.6
    Ringer: 1.511 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.6
    Nikita: 1.620 Millions – 18-49 Ratings: 0.5

For this ratings we can thank that GG, Nikita and Ringer will got cancelled, but GG is out of the picture because, have strong ratings among women between 18-34 and have a huge fan base so what leads to: Ringer, Hart of Dixie and Nikita to got cancel.

  • Courtney

I hope they do not cancel Ringer! It is the best and most different show out there right now. All the other shows are the same ol thing. Ringer is addictive and I want more!!
