Two seasons ago I was cheered as Melrose Place brought back the lovely (and my age peer) Heather Locklear in an attempt to save the ratings challenged show. Sadly for fans, we know how that ended.

The return of Sarah Michelle Gellar (just a child compared to Heather and I) in Ringer was certainly hoped to draw some Buffy-like ratings magic. Sadly, that's going to end in the same result. Ringer is likely to be canceled at the end of this season

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did the CW's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • :oops: - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • :cry: :cry:- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012
  • :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    according to Hollywood Reporter and TVline, HOD got a .4 on monday. And it didn’t have the excuse of being preempted like Ringer. So lets stop saying HOD is better than Ringer.
    Nikita has a big chance of reneweal now.

  • Natalia

    @donnaT, sometimes CW would tweet that some shows were preempted. So they know when their affiliates screw up their programs.

  • Natalia

    @sophia

    Im only saying people are too harsh, saying things like “die ringer die”, laughing at its fifth .4. But lets be honest, without peemption it was at a .5. HOD last episode got a .5 or .4 (dont know which website is correct), nikita last got .4 (but this show has friday excuse). so right NOW, Ringer is not as a bad as as some as making them out to be.

    Guys! I don’t think why everyone says about the Carrie Diaries ”No one cares to see the beginning, because we all saw the end” I mean, Smallville was about a young Superman, and everyone knew how that was going to end, Clark Kent turning into Superman, stay with Lois Lane and learn to fly! And that show lasted for 10 years! Soo… who know? Maybe TCD Will get picked up and even get renewed for season 2, maybe not? :/

    Peter I find it really hard to believe you’re a guy based on all the CW shows and pilots you’re interested in :P

  • Brandy

    Ringer got a 0.4 AGAiN in finals, its dead and according to tvbtn HOD got a 0.5.

  • Adrian

    Smallville was a WB show and it was more of a family show and it had something for everyone that is why it lasted 10 years.

    Carrie will be yet another shallow show with endless love triangle and contrived drama. I hope it will go the way of The Beautiful Life and be cancelled immediately.

    I would only watch Arrow, B&B and maybe First Cut, the cast got my attention.

  • glover

    Ringer will be renewed. Best show of the season. Deal with it.

  • Sophia

    “according to Hollywood Reporter and TVline, HOD got a .4 on monday. And it didn’t have the excuse of being preempted like Ringer. So lets stop saying HOD is better than Ringer. Nikita has a big chance of reneweal now.”

    It was a 0.5 not a 0.4. That websites even listed one of Hart of Dixie’s original episodes as a 0.3 a couple weeks ago when it was a repeat. So is that site reliable? No.

    And I like how you act like this is Ringer’s first 0.4. LMAO

  • Natalia

    @sophia
    thats not my point. But how can people be harsh ( and say things like :”die ringer die”) when its really not doing THAT badly compared to some of the other shows. People criticize this show more than any other. And its not even about the ratings, people have some personal vendetta against it or something.

    Its say HOD got a .4 on three different sites. Maybe this website is wrong, so who knows. Either way if you look at it with half time: HOD fell to .4, so I expect HOD to hit .4′s soon. Lets see what you say then

  • Natalia

    when HOD falls to a .4, I bet all the fans will still defend it. LMFAO

    they will say thngs like the usual: oh it has potential to improve, it will be given another chance, its still better than nikita,has a bad lead in, blah blah blah

  • Natalia

    and GG is no longer a bad lead in for HOD:
    GG kept at a .5 for the whole hour, while at second half time HOD fell to .4. GG is actually holding on.

    so I no longer want to hear that lame lead in excuse

  • sarah

    Hart of Dixie is making Nikita’s renewal chances look better. This wasn’t the case back in the Fall.
    And yes, Ringer was preempted. CW is aware of preemption when it occurs. They don’t have to announce anything, they knew preemption was going to occur when they signed affiliate contracts.

  • Sophia

    Honey I’ve already said Hart of Dixie is probably done. It’s life, shows get cancelled, more on. But your points are so stupid. People on this website hate on Nikita, they hate on Hart of Dixie, have a strong enough back bone to deal with people having Ringer hate as well.

    Whether it had a 0.4 in it’s half hour or not, it got a 0.5. Plain and simple. Quite a few times lately I’ve seen 90210′s half hours 0.7/0.6, but it stays at a 0.7. Whatever the final rating is, that’s what it is.

    Sure, Ringer can have the excuse it was preempted. But is hitting a 0.4 for Ringer news anymore? The show is already done.

  • Sid

    Hart of Dixie and RINGER are deader than dead. They’re both completely out of the race.

    It’s officially between The SECRET CIRCLE and NIKITA for the Friday slot. I was thinking they should give TSC a chance to grow on a Mon-Th slot but **** that! They shipped NIKITA off to Fridays so if they cancel it then TSC should be moved there where it will also die. The final episodes of each show will determine their fates.

    #Endofstory!

  • Kate

    When do TVD and TSC come back? I know 90210 comes back April 24th (along with the US premiere of LA Complex, right?). It feels like The CW hasn’t had all its shows airing at once in forever…

  • Sid

    @Kate

    Vampire Diaries and SECRET CIRCLE return Thursday, April 19th!

  • natalia

    @sophia
    maybe its just me, but I’ve seen more “die ringer die” than anything else this past week. Its actually quiet nasty and scary at the same time. I, for one, would never say such things about a show
