Two seasons ago I was cheered as Melrose Place brought back the lovely (and my age peer) Heather Locklear in an attempt to save the ratings challenged show. Sadly for fans, we know how that ended.

The return of Sarah Michelle Gellar (just a child compared to Heather and I) in Ringer was certainly hoped to draw some Buffy-like ratings magic. Sadly, that's going to end in the same result. Ringer is likely to be canceled at the end of this season

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did the CW's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012

  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

“It’s officially between The SECRET CIRCLE and NIKITA for the Friday slot. I was thinking they should give TSC a chance to grow on a Mon-Th slot but **** that!”

HAHA, I was thinking the same thing with the addition of the curse word!

I have a good feeling that Nikita will stay if Im honest, even if its just for 13 episodes. TSC- I have no clue what day it will go one but yeah either way its gone after season 2

  • natalia

some set photos of first cut and cult: http://vancouverisawesome.com/2012/04/11/yvrshoots-arrow-midnightsun-and-six-other-tv-pilots-await-their-fate/

I know some women don’t agree but I find Matt Davis to be gorgeous! Not that I’m endorsing CW to continue churning out shows with hot guys to bring in viewers lol ;)

  • Kavyn

Matt Davis looks really preppy there, I’d like to see if he can play a nerd (it’d actually be really humouring to see him play something completely different to his TVD character). I’m also really digging Mamie Gummer.

  • Freyja

I’ll agree Matt Davis is a cutie pie ;) looking forward to The Cult if it gets picked up.

If it’s between Nikita and TSC I pick Nikita… It’s more adult oriented than TSC and action charged. And if Nikita stays they need to promote that night and not let it flounder.

  • Doug

Arguing between a 0.4 and a 0.5 is like arguing over the shades of an orange – what does it matter? They’re both terrible ratings. And with the CW’s trend of losing audience for the past couple of seasons, either one would be around a 0.3 this time next spring. Nikita might be saved for being on Friday, but both HoD and Ringer are certainly dead.

  • Natalie

CW worker, Robert flemming, tweeted about ringer and spn tv guide wins and said thanks for “getting their shows recognized”. Oh goodness, they really want any recognition huh! if one of their shows won a Raspberryaward for worst actor they would be pleased lol

  • Natalie

I completely agree Doug, it was just frstrating when Ringer gets trashed when other shows are obviously getting canceled too

  • Misha Lauenstein

Shouldn’t CW know by now if they are cancelling Ringer? Why are they still advertising next week’s show as a Season Finale. Wouldn’t they get more viewers if they advertised a Series Finale?

  • Richard Steven Hack

Ringer absolutely is doomed – thank heaven.

Nikita is also doomed – unless the CW decides to kill Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie along with Ringer.

I believe the CW will cancel three shows, and the four listed are their options. Rumor has GG being “safe” for no known reason other than hanging on to the past failures of the network, so that leaves Nikita, Ringer and HoD.

If Nikita DOES get another season, it will of course be only 13 episodes. I continue to think however that it will be canceled and replaced by The Secret Circle on Fridays.

I would like to see another 13 episodes of Nikita, since it’s my favorite show of this (and last) season, but realistically it’s unlikely.

  • Dahne

Poor CW. Just hang on long enough for Supernatural to end their 10th season and then chuck it all as a failed experiment.

I’m loving Nikita right now but I have no delusions about its fate. It would take a Fringe-sized miracle for it to stay on the air.

    Natalie

Yes the 9pm hour got a .5 in fast nationals. That doesn’t mean that if Ringer would have aired in Chicago that it would have had a .5 rating in fast or finals.

The Fast Nationals are the nationwide airing of Ringer , which does poorly, and the Chicago Bulls in Chicago which greatly increased the results for theChicago market.

Meaning its very, very possible that if Ringer aired in Chicago it still would have only gotten a .4.

  • krell

All saying that HoD continue to sink in at the ratings due to GG as a bad lead in; well it just fine when HoD got a bad plot & a bad actress as well.

  • HB

    @Natalie

ROFL at your “Raspberryaward for worst actor” comment!

  • Devon

Oop @ everyone completely ignoring the JJ Abrams/Mark Schwahn pilot. Watch it weasel itself onto the fall or mid-season schedule. I guarantee you they won’t turn JJ down.

  • Kate

Yeah, I think Shelter will be a midseason addition. Or maybe during the summer?

Nikita may luck out and get a 13 episode final season order. No way they give it a full season, though. Not with the numbers it’s pulling now and not when 22 episodes would get it close enough to syndication numbers that they’d essentially have to renew it for another season beyond that.

Hopefully GG continues to crash and burn and they give it a 2 hour “movie” send off. We can all drea, right?

yeah i was wondering what happened to the comments there was 9 pages yesterday…

  • Tab L. Uno

I’m a pussy, I’m a afraid. While I really like Ringer, it’s continuing story arch like 24 is too intense for me week after week. I need something more uplifting, like The Ghost Whisperer or even The Gifted Man which which isn’t a serial, but just has a complete episode each time it’s shown, with a nice satisfying ending. I just don’t want to have to be stressed out week in and week out.

  • poshreany

i would like ringer to be renewed but there wouldn’t be any need theres been so much showed in the show already, it was like it was only written for a one season so there would be no point, once the truth comes out about siobhan there will be no storyline and no where for the show to go and its close to the truth being revealed so yeah…
