Fringe ratings have bumped along at woeful levels since January. Fans' hopes for a fifth season seem to rise and fall with those tiny up or down ticks, and I don't think they should.
As I've been noting all season long. Fringe's terrible ratings under normal circumstances would certainly cause the show to be canceled. But the potential money fountain that is off network syndication sometimes causes producers to do things that don't fit "normal" like cutting their license fee to the network to nothing. That's what Warner Brothers will have to do to get another season of Fringe, and the chance that they might is what's keeping it a "toss up" for renewal or cancellation.

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

they should cancel, alcatraz,fringe, and breaking in, alcatraz has continued to fall in ratings, views since the pilot and not gained views once dropping more then half its pilot views, and fringe is getting as low as 3 million views that’s bad…
i so don’t get that number’s game at all… but the only shows that are good on this list are raising hope…

There’s no commercial reason for FOX to renew Fringe. Whatever ad revenues they think they’ll be getting, they won’t.
Putting on shows that get low 1s on a Friday does mean that if Fox ever does have a hit on a Friday, most people won’t be watching because they are hacked off over the poor ratings fare on Fridays for the last few years.
TVfreak -Raising Hope, New Girl and Bones are already renews. House is in its final season. Alcatrash, Cringe and Ouch aren’t coming back. I’ve already given up on Touch and I had such hopes. Though I’d rather like the day after Fringe is renewed by Reilly, when he gets his pink slip and Fringe renewal will be revoked
