DJ Khaled, Future, Meek Mill, Pharell, A$AP Rocky and More of the Hottest in Hip Hop To Appear Throughout the Season

New York, NY (April 11, 2012) – MTV is gearing up to give viewers an all-access industry insiders look into the world of hip hop with the premiere of the new weekly, late-night music and performance talk show “MTV’s Hip Hop POV.” Kicking off the season tonight at Midnight ET/PT are some of hip hop’s heavyweights as well as rookies on the rise including 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Akon and French Montana. Upcoming episodes this season will bring appearances by DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell and Future to name a few. In each episode, our hosts Amanda Seales, Bu Thiam, Charlamagne Tha God, Devi Dev and Sowmya Krishnamurthy will take viewers on a weekly tour of what’s hot in hip hop, grant access to the biggest events, deliver exclusive artist interviews and finally, hand over the stage to artists for electrifying performances.

“MTV’s Hip Hop POV” premiere episode is set to explode when 2 Chainz, the “new veteran” on the scene, joins the POV hosts for an interview about taking his time to gain notoriety, his latest tracks and the new artists he is currently working with. In his first interview exclusively revealing to POV new details surrounding his upcoming album, Lil Wayne sits down at his brand new, luxurious Miami home for a two-part discussion unveiling the secret behind his loyalty to his Cash Money family and the surprising influence that has served as a creative muse for his music. Next, viewers go behind the scenes with Akon at the video shoot for his upcoming single Hurt Somebody with ‘shot caller’ French Montana. 2 Chainz returns to take his talents to the POV stage to unleash a performance for ‘tru’ hip hop heads. The action continues all season long with appearances by DJ Khaled, French Montana, Future, Meek Mill, Pharrell and A$AP Rocky to name a few.

“MTV’s Hip Hop POV” is hosted by Amanda Seales – the multidimensional artist, Bu Thiam, VP of A&R at Def Jam, NY’s Power 105.1 “The Breakfast Club” radio personality Charlamagne Tha God, Devi Dev – one of the leading ladies in radio whose voice can be heard on Sirius XM’s “Sway in the Morning” and Sowmya Krishnamurthy , a digital age journalist known for her dogmatic and cerebral musings about hip-hop. Each week the series’ hosts will give viewers raw, unfiltered commentary on the news making headlines in hip-hop culture, provide their opinions on new music, grant insider access to the biggest events and engage in no-holds-barred artist interviews. In addition, each episode of “MTV’s Hip-Hop POV” will end with an intimate performance by an artist taking the game to all new heights.
