ABC's 'AFHV' Hits a 6 Week High/GCB Vaults Over its Lead-in to Tie CBS' Debut of 'NYC 22'

During the 7 o’clock hour, ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos ranked #1 in Adults 18-49, leading original newsmagazines on CBS (60 Minutes) and NBC (Dateline) by 7% and 15%, respectively.


  • Spiking 25% over its last original with young adults, AFHV drew its biggest audience in 5 weeks and its top Adult 18-49 rating in 6 weeks – since 3/11/12 and 3/4/12, respectively.


ABC’s repeat Once Upon a Time beat out its original NBC drama competition in the 8 o’clock hour, outdelivering Harry’s Law by 22% in Adults 18-49.


From 9-10pm, the conclusion of the ABC Premiere Event: Titanic was up by 13% over its average on Saturday night in Adults 18-49.


Jumping over its lead-in by 67% in Adults 18-49, ABC’s GCB moved up to tie CBS’ highly promoted series debut of NYC 22, as the new CBS drama dropped -17% from its lead-in coming out of The Good Wife.  Exhibiting a much younger skew, ABC’s GCB defeated NYC 22 by 57% in Adults 18-34.

    As a GCB fan, this press release actually makes me sad. When ABC has to go to great lengths to try to say that GCB’s ratings are good (“highly promoted series” “Exhibiting a much younger skew”), you know something is wrong.

    At least GCB proved that it’s a self starter. I just wish that big jump in demo had translated to a similar one in TTL viewers. 4.4 million is low.

    It needs to get back up to at least 1.9 demo and 5.8 million to have a fighting chance.

    I agree that “GCB” is a hit series for ABC at 10pm – which is great because I’d rather end a long week (before I start a new one) with something fun and comedic with some nice drama in it (love the cast). This site seems to be doing anything it can to dismiss “Harry’s Law” and the demo it caters to – which is extremely annoying, because people over 49 watch TV and have more money to buy products from window cleaner to insurance and cars – more than the other “demo group”. I guess being NBC’s #1 drama if you don’t like it here, it gets put down and/or ignored? I know some people watched “Once Upon A Time” expecting next week’s big episode “The Return”. So I am not surprised it did well (I love the show) even as a repeat. Lay off “Harry’s Law” – obviously you don’t like it at this site, but many millions do. Thanks.
