As CBS' late season drama replacements typically do, NYC 22 arrived with a resounding ratings flop on Sunday night. It is certain to be canceled.

But that won't help A Gifted Man or Unforgettable, they're still certain to be canceled. CBS will want three hours free for new dramas next fall, and there's no room on their schedule for those ratings losers.

CBS will also cancel at least one of the CSI offspring (NY or Miami). More sitcom time could save Rules of Engagement and/or Rob, but without it, they're both likely gone too.

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did CBS' shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • - more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012
  •     - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    @Rebecca: OK. :)

  • Ed Redlich

Thanks to those of you who continue to hold out some hope for my show, “Unforgettable.”. I take CBS at their word they are waiting to make a final decision on our fate, and I think our last two episodes are pretty good. Be curious to know what you think would make are show better next year. Ed

  • tvfreak

@Ed Redlich: How about introducing a strict taskmaster of a boss, a la NCIS’s Director Vance?

  • The Other Tony

  • Rebecca

Hey, Unforgettable fans…Ed who posted above is the co-creator and writer of the show. (I looked up his name on IMdb to make sure.) Now is your time to tell him what would make the show more perfect, as viewers. @tvfreak already offered one suggestion. I can’t offer any suggestions, really, since I don’t watch much on CBS (just Rules, TBBT, HIMYM and Rob). I know my sis in TX watches Unforgettable. You fans should jump at this chance!

  • me

@Ed Redlich: I really like having Jane Curtin as a cast member. she does a good job! if you do get another season, I would love to see more of her on the program.

  • Ed Redlich

We love Jane Curtin also. And there may be some surprises in the boss department. The original pilot script had a boss character actually. Ed

  • Rebecca

    THE MENTALIST – 24 (-1)
    PERSON OF INTEREST – 35
    NCIS – 23 (-2)
    HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER – 40 (+1)
    THE BIG BANG THEORY – 72 (+2)

I’ll just keep voting for CBS shows until the comedies aren’t in the mix any more, to be fair since I don’t watch the dramas. Quote from TBBT [5.19]:
Raj: Hey, wanna spend some time playing the new Star Wars game this weekend?
Leonard: Uh, I don’t know. I kind of promised myself I’d get off the computer, be more physically active, get some exercise.
Howard: You’re about to walk up three flights of stairs.
    Leonard: Good point. I’m in!

  • Jos

Such a shame for “NYC 22″, I enjoyed the pilot very much.

  • Kate

    just cancel nyc 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    NCIS – 25 (+2)
    HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER – 38 (-2)
THE BIG BANG THEORY – 71 (-1) (Fake wrath, b/c I don’t wanna hurt PoI.)

    Eliminated:

    20. The Good Wife (4-12, 9:35am)
    19. Unforgettable (4-12, 12:14pm)
    18. Rob (4-12, 9:04pm)

    14. CSI: Miami (4-13, 3:00pm)
    13. 2 Broke Girls (4-13, 5:22pm)
    12. CSI: NY (4-14, 4:30pm)
    11. Rules of Engagement (4-14, 8:40 pm)
    10. Blue Bloods (4-15, 2:48pm)
    9. NCIS: Los Angeles (4-15, 4:05pm)
    8. CSI (4-16, 9:03am)
    7. Hawaii Five-0 (4-18, 9:29am)
    6. Mike & Molly (4-18, 4:28pm)

From Two and a Half Men, episode 9.20 “Grandma’s Pie” –
Alan: I got a little philosophy, when someone is nice enough to let me into their home or their pants, I like to show my appreciation.
    Walden: Without spending any money.
Alan: You know me so well.

  • Ralph Hahn

@Ed Redlich: I am a fan of “Unforgettable.” I love Poppy. Anorher poster who claimed to be “in the know” said that Les Moonves loves Poppy. Other programs “on the bubble” have been renewed despite the fact that U/F has higher numbers.

I have faith in CBS to give your program a sophomore season. My suggestion was if there was a way to make this program better and more attractive to the 18-49′s is to replace the supporting cast.

It’s nice that there’s one NYC show set in Queens. Maybe Poppy’s character can be transfered to another Queens precinct, or return to Syracuse.

I would get rid of everyone except for Poppy and Jane. The magic that existed with the NYPD Blue cast, and “Without A Trace” acting troupe is just not there on U/F.

I hope that CBS agrees to a renewal. Please keep us informed. Thank you.

  • Ralph Hahn

@Ed Redlich: “Carrie” can always head downtown to the Federal Bldg. and work with the FBI. Because of Poppy’s red hair, no one will recognize “Samantha Spade.” ;-)
