The end is near, but not near enough for my headline writing imagination in these weekly CW posts.

Writing these posts with no new news and the same three at risk shows in the headline has made it ever more difficult to come up with something new. Instead, I settled on something the Google searchers will appreciate.

Don't suggest I headline a post with "Something Will Be Renewed". Relatively nobody searches for that. ;)

The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did the CW's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.

*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.

Notes:

  • :oops: - certain to be cancelled by May, 2012
  • :cry: :cry:- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012
  • :| :| :| - toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012
  • :) :) :) :) - more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012
  • :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: - certain to be renewed by May, 2012

The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).

(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

    ^^ and to be honest and real, numbers 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12= CANCELLATION!
    and 1,3, 4, 5, and 6=RENEWALS. but Number 8 is The CW’s baby, but really does derseves to be cancelled, however, it also was a hit for The CW once upon a time and needs to have a nice send off like number 2!

    Number 7 is in better shape than 9 and 10 though! It should be renewed rather than cancelled! : )

    And for the pilots, I think Shelter, Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, and The Selection will appear in the 2012-2013 year!

    Poor CW, I wish the best! ;)

    @WB

    What about Beauty and the Beast is the cw going to picked it up for this fall does anybody know i would like to watch that show too if they pick it up

  • Mrc8310

    @WB

    and what about joey Dakota is the cw going to pick up this show or not

  • WB

    @Mrc8310

    Joey Dakota is very different from CW-norms! To me, It sounds very interesting and I would love for it to appear on the fall schedule, but it doesnt have that BUZZ! hmmmm I know for a fact ARROW, THE SELECTION, and THE CARRIE DIARIES will land on the schedule! The fourth Spot, would be between SHELTER and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! and I think SHELTER has it because of One Tree Hill’s creator Mark S.

  • Mrc8310

    @WB

    Do you think Beauty and the Beast will land on the cw fall schedule

  • WB

    @Mrc8310

    hmmmm there’s a 40% chance! I think knowing that ABC has a beauty and the beast pilot too!

  • Sophia

    Uh oh, Hart of Dixie is trending world wide right now.. does that mean that’s going to get it renewed like you “Ringer” & “Nikita” fans claim?

  • Rachel

    Variety says Arrow and The Carrie Diaries are the only pilots sure to be picked up at this point. All other pilots looking good except Joey Dakota wasn’t mentioned. Shelter filmed late so there’s no word on it yet.

    The Carrie Diaries I cant say will do that well, a show set in the 80’s may not appeal, they tried the GG spin-in and it didn’t work out. I’m not sure that show will last, not worth picking up in my opinion, they need to try something new. Half the pilots are remakes, based on books or stuff, only Cult seems original but wont last long.

  • Rachel

    I also noticed the lack of originality with these pilots. They’re all so gimmicky. They’re trying to cash in on Sex and the City and Hunger Games success. I hope it backfires. Cult, Shelter and First Cut are the only “original” ideas and those aren’t even frontrunners.

  • Adrian

    HOD I reckon might fall to a new series’ low tomorrow. Tonight’s episode was a snoozefest. Way to waste an hour of my life.

    TSC is heating up but it will be too late. I don’t want to wait 17 episodes for a show to get good and others probably feel the same way.

  • Mrc8310

    @Rachel

    What about Beauty and the Beast is that only pilots sure to be picked up or not

  • Sid

    @Rachel

    Interesting article; I scrolled all the way down to find information on B&tB. :)

    I really want CW to pick this show up. I’ve been watching the network since SPN moved here and ever since then I’ve been praying for another CW-type procedural. When I read that CW ordered a B&tB reboot I was skeptical but now I really want this pilot to go to series. I always prefer procedurals over serialized dramas because sometimes it can be hard to keep up with a heavily serialized show;especially when they stat off slow and start to supposedly get better during the last few episodes(MELROSE PLACE, RINGER, THE SECRET CIRCLE). The only three serialized shows I’ve been with and will continue with them till the end are 9O21O, NIKITA and Revenge. I guess you can add SPN too but I hardly find the show serialized.

    Here’s to hoping Mark/CW gives it a chance!

    @WB adding more programing hours means less repeats of shows. For example, during the summer they used to have three months from the end of May to September of nothing but repeats and starting this summer they are trying new shows during that time. The four reality show for the summer time. I hope it works out for them and i hope it answers your question too. I don’t see them getting Sunday nighta back for the the affiliates anytime soon. Or for the matter programing the ten PM hour iether. I agree with Bill it just means less repeats of the shows now. I think that is a good thing.

  • Rachel

    I’m pretty indifferent to B&tB. Most likely because of the lead actress. She was pretty terrible on Smallville. Anyway, this new president is gonna take a giant leap when he needs to be taking baby steps. They’re gonna pick up the pilots they feel will bring them the best ratings as opposed to the best shows overall. The CW audience has proved time and again they won’t stick around for shows that are crap. That’s why Ringer and TSC debuted with 3 million and are barely getting 1 million viewers now. He better be careful.

  • Brandy

    Sophia &Hart of Dixie fans, tvaddict agrees with tvline, tvguide,usatoday that it has a very good shot at renewal.They had a article on cw bubble shows today and they say nikita, ringer are more likley to be cancelled,SC more likley to be cancelled but could be renewed & Dixie more likley to be renewed.

  • Nichole

    Hart of Dixie has been my favorite tv show of the many that I watch as of late. I really hope they renew it.

  • Lorena

    Top 3 shows I watch incessantly, waiting for the night they will air are:
    1)Hart of Dixie
    2)Vampire Diaries
    3)The Secret Circle

    But above all, Hart of Dixie has stolen my Hart. : )

  • Rose

    I really enjoy watching Hart of Dixie to pieces. The unfortunate thing is that I live in Canada, and I don’t have the CW or any channel that carries this show…so I do have to watch it online.
    That being said, I still don’t want it to be canceled because it is perfect in every way!
