I probably should have moved The Finder to "certain to be canceled" immediately after it was moved to Friday night, but I had other shows I wanted to put into the headline and I was gone last week and wrote my previous Fox renew / cancel post way in advance. Nevertheless, The Finder's woeful ratings on Friday confirm the obvious. It's certain to be canceled.
How can Fringe, with similarly woeful ratings, be just a "toss up"? Read last week's post about syndication if you're wondering.
The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did FOX's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.
*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.
Notes:
-
- certain to be cancelled by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012 -
- toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012 -
- certain to be renewed by May, 2012
The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

Touch will be renewed way before Alcatraz
FRINGE – 61 (+3)
RAISING HOPE – 28 (-1)
ALCATRAZ – 18 (+1)
NEW GIRL – 26
TOUCH – 31 (-3)
What? The Flintstones was always planned for 2013, it didn’t get pushed back. It won’t premiere this fall, it will either premiere spring next year, or fall next year.
I think it makes more sense to cancel The Cleveland Show. When American Dad and Cleveland have aired in the same time slot, American Dad usually does better. American Dad already does great when its syndicated on Adult Swim, American Dad is also loved by critics, which is something you can’t say about The Cleveland Show, a show that has been panned since it premiered.
Also, two weeks from now, Fox will be airing two new Clevelands at 7:30 and 9:30. That looks more like a burn off, to me.
I’d rather see Cleveland cancelled, but I’d be perfectly fine see American Dad canceled, I want it to end while it’s still good.
@ The Hafk
Seth Macfarlene has said his work load is too big with his 3 shows, Ted, and music so it has been pushed back
Yes, there was an article on Zap2it about The Flintstones not happening after all, for the reasons @Tony just said. I posted the text from the article in the previous r/c index thread (somewhere in its final 2 or 3 pages I think). The guy is just too busy, and work on The Flintstones would have had to have started already (like, last year) for it to happen.

Cleveland show is godawful, not sure which is worse that or Napoleon Dynamite. Someone said American Dad should go after it’s 8th season while its still good yet I didn’t see anyone clamoring for Family Guy to be canceled because I quit watching that show seasons ago. Id take more American Dad over Cleveland and Family Guy.
@drew
touch will probably be renewed because FOX’s dramas have been such a failure this season they’ll probably renew just to save face.
Can I vote in the Elimination Game even though it’s been less than 24 hrs. since my post on the last thread?
On other things yay for Alcatraz and Touch! I love Alcatraz and have 4 Touches stocked up on my DVR. I hope they both get renewed and not The Finder, even though I think Kiefer Sutherland is a horrible actor.

I predict that everything on Fox that hasn’t already been renewed not named Touch will be cancelled.
The Cleveland Show won’t make it past Season 4.
American Dad, I don’t mind, but if it’s cancelled, we have a lot of good episodes trapped in time forever.
Yeah I think Finder should have been at certain to be canceled for some time now. As myself and others have said, if it can’t be a finder of viewers after American Idol it certainly won’t be on Friday night after half a season of airing. People go off about Fringe’s low ratings, but even Fringe got 10 millions viewers on average when it was after Idol.
Fringe is definitely getting one more half season. At this point Fox has no excuses.
heres what i believe CBS’s Cancelled and new shows will be (which includes already cancelled shows).
Cancelled Dramas:
The Finder
Terra Nova
Alcatraz
House
Touch
I believe Fring will get either like a 2 hour movie or a 13 episode final season.. (fox did horrible this year and they may even try and save face by renewint touch even though it can only muster a 2.3 behind american idol… SAD
Cancelled Comedies:
I Hate my teenage daughter
Breaking in
(this doesnt includ their animated shows)
New Dramas:
Kevin Bacon Show
Guilty (as mid season replacement)
Karyn Usher Project
Possibly (the asset)
New Comedies:
Like Father
El Jefe
Little Brother
Let It GO (Possibly but id rether it not get picked up because id rather see Zachary Levi in a hour long series)
@Azzman
Are you nuts? Admittedly, Season 4 of Fringe hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, but the back end of Season 2 and all of Season 3 was straight-up incredible.
The only reason Touch is going to be renewed and The Finder will be cancelled is Fox prefers Touch and its pull of its lead actor.
Touch will be down to 2.0 soon and no better than The Finder. Having a 3.9 opening is of no use if you are barely pulling 2′s by the end of the season. It will be renewed though and will get slaughtered next year away from Idol.
@Nick
No.
(I semi-agree about Keifer Sutherland – I like his show, though.)
@Tony: I won’t disregard your vote but just know in the future, vote only +2, +1, -1, and -2 when less than six shows are left. (This will change in the next iteration of the game, coming in October, but for now those are the rules.)
