I probably should have moved The Finder to "certain to be canceled" immediately after it was moved to Friday night, but I had other shows I wanted to put into the headline and I was gone last week and wrote my previous Fox renew / cancel post way in advance. Nevertheless, The Finder's woeful ratings on Friday confirm the obvious. It's certain to be canceled.
How can Fringe, with similarly woeful ratings, be just a "toss up"? Read last week's post about syndication if you're wondering.
The Renew / Cancel Index above includes results beginning January 2, 2012. How did FOX's shows stack up based on their Fall results? Click here.
*shows no longer on the air have their Renew/Cancel Index "frozen" at the point they left the schedule.
Notes:
-
- certain to be cancelled by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be cancelled than renewed by May, 2012 -
- toss up between renewal or cancellation by May, 2012 -
- more likely to be renewed than cancelled by May, 2012 -
- certain to be renewed by May, 2012
The Renew/Cancel Index is the ratio of a scripted show's new episode adults 18-49 ratings relative to the new episode ratings of the other scripted shows on its own network. It's calculated by dividing a show's new episode Live+Same Day adults 18-49 average rating by the Live+Same Day new episode average of all the new scripted show episodes on the show's own network. The network's average ratings in the calculation are not time weighted (ex. hour long shows are not weighted twice what 30 minute shows are).
(F) -Fridays: Shows airing on Fridays were renewed with significantly lower than average Indexes.

The optimists won last year, who’s to say we won’t win again? Everything we’ve heard so far about renewal prospects for Fringe has been positive, I just wanna see this site on the day of an actual renewal announcement

quote from Glee [3.15]:
Sue to Blaine’s brother Cooper Anderson: And if Alan Menken isn’t personally writing you a fairy tale musical at this very moment, I will hunt him down and beat him senseless with a cudgel – because you, Sir, are a Disney Prince.
Cooper Anderson: Wow. G-d, it is great to be back in the midwest.
I only watch 4 shows on Fox and that’s Glee,Raising Hope and New Girl. So PLEASE Fox RENEW ALCATRAZ they can cancel The Finder and Fringe…
Too bad about The Finder. I’ve enjoyed it.
Let’s begin the watch for the Curse of Geoff Stults.
I think this season 5 of fringe is a con. Wouldnt Fox and WB have done a deal by now if it was true? 13 eps would hardly take this long to sort.
Oh, “The Finder” is in trouble? Guess it’s time to add an annoying female boss to argue with Walter every week and tell him everything he’s doing is wrong. Get right on that, FOX executives because, as you know, men should not be allowed to be in charge of anything.
@ Riff Rafferty
what a ridiculous comment
There are plenty of tv shows with male leads

Sunday is the new Friday. Friday happens. I have found what has not been found. All what I’m saying is meaningless. Finder is renewed.
@Jamie
I thought it was a stupid idea to change it to mondays after it’s been on thursdays it’s whole run
No it hasn’t. That is completely wrong. You said the same thing in the Monday ratings thread, and it was wrong then too. Bones has been in at least five different time slots throughout its run, and it’s always managed just fine. Saying that its ratings are down because it changed time slots is ridiculous. And it’s not going back to Thursdays; it’s going to be an eight-year-old show, and there’s no reason that it should be propped by up X-Factor and Idol.
It’s stood on its own before, and it’s just going to have to do that again.
@tvfreak
Nuts, I just wrote that same quote down while re-watching the episode, lol. Followed by, “Namaste!” Crazy, funny Lucy.

“Rachel: I wanna get married. Now.
Finn: I have Gym.”
-Glee, 3.13 “On My Way”
I just realized that I only watch Fringe on Fox now; I watched all of Terra Nova and had it continued, I would have kept watching – It’s just too bad the show meandered around the Shannen’s instead of Cmdr. Nathaniel Taylor and Lt. Alicia Washington.
I stopped watching House MD and Bones; I have never watched American Idol or The X-Factor or SYTYCD. I watch Glee Performances on YouTube at Glee on Fox channel; I ‘DVR’ed Alcatraz, The Finder, and Touch but have not watched a single episode among the three so I stopped.
Previous shows that I watched included 24, Prison Break, Human Target, Lie To Me, Dollhouse, Terminator TSCC, Drive, Firefly, Space AA&B, The X-Files. I’m pretty sure I would have watched ‘Exit Strategy (Ethan Hawke) and Locke & Key’ had they been picked up.
Once Fringe goes, I guess I am done with Fox
the finder should be RENEWED
