Has Bones been scheduled on each of the week nights at one time or another?

  • Bob

Dancing with the Stars in 3rd place with 16 million viewers….what a World we live in. A show with 7 million beats a show with 16 million. No wonder television is dying.

  • LOL

This is why GG will be renewed.

2 episodes in Canada, #2 in US, 2 in UK, 3 in France, 1 in Australia. This might not constitute a large % of their income but it tells them that their viewers like to watch the show in other avenues.

bob i agree with you. i mean how can a show with a higher 18-49 win over a show that has a higher rating. i would think the more the viewers the better. Besides what good is a higher demo in adults if the overall rating sucks like THE VOice. After the Super bowl they had close to 40 million view , now just over 10. I would of thought that was a bad sign but no, it a good sign. Go figure

    PUH-LEASE watch REVENGE tonight.

  • Nadine

Did Bones really do a 1.6 on Thursday? Seems unlikely — maybe for a rerun?

TV dead? Hmm. My ten and eight year old nephews, and their friends, spend all their time with computer games and sports … their parents rightfully supervise their web watching, but eventually I predict they will spend a lot of time there also. The generation that’s grown up with Iphones, wireless internet, Netflix,UTube etc will consider TV a default choice, and will only watch uncensored, irreverent shows at a high price, like premium cable. ( Already, judging from the reviews, the Girlson HBO is setting new standards for X-generation narcissism and satire thereof.) Basic cable is a bridge to nowhere – a necessary one at this point, but the near shore of network TV is clearly dying, and basic cable gives only a small taste of artistic freedom that pales besides less censored venues. Hence, cartoons, reality shows and sports rule the demo right now.

I don’t blame you for dropping it. I can’t watch any of these competition shows. They’re too long IMO and just not worth my time. I’d rather see good scripted TV shows. I do appreciate The Voice getting good or decent numbers for NBC, since it’s possible that if any NBC shows are doing well it might help with other shows I’d like to stay on the air.

Did you just start spelling your screen name differently? It was always Justin before, wasn’t it?

  • Rebecca

I think that is true for Bones. I think someone here said it a while back, when Bones was moved to Mondays.

  • Nadine

It seems to me that TV is indeed declining as a popular mass medium. I mean will there ever be another last-episode-of-M*A*S*H phenomenon? (that isn’t the Super Bowl) The audience has been splintered widely by technology — but also by the ceaseless quest to wrest one’s diversions from commercial manipulation in some form or other. A losing battle perhaps, but ground has been gained.

the voice should move to tuesdays — its ratings for the performance show keep going up while the performance show is in a free fall every week. There is no reason that nbc should not move the voice to Tuesdays where it began and move the results show to 10p on wed if they don’t want to go up against the x factor. NBC needs to save this show and cultivate it into the number 1 show with the 8 demo it once was. It’s only hurting all the other networks and itself in the process. Happy with a 3.5 verses an 8?

Couldn’t agree more with you. There is much to despise and distrust in marketing. The current television rating system is just one example. In defense of companies which do the ratings measuring, like Nielsen, today’s many viewing options, which seem to be increasing exponentially, create some real challenges in capturing accurate measurements. That being said, I believe you are mostly expressing dissatisfaction over the importance placed on the coveted 18-49 demographic over everything else, including total viewers. Again, I am right there with you on this issue. As the population ages and is still engaged in an active lifestyle, I wonder if the coveted demographic might expand beyond age 49, to let’s say 59? I know of many 30 year old and under adults who are now living with their parents once again out of economic necessity; these would hardly seem like an ideal target for advertisers. But, what do I know?!

Yes Itunes is important but in the UK, Gossip Girl does awfully in ratings (i’m talking below 300,000 viewers, compared to TVD with above 700,000 on the same channel).

Everyone must watch Apt 23 tonight or dvr it — it honestly is so laugh out loud Friends funny. I saw it online and it is so much better than the pilot.

Those that say HoD is dead, how many new shows do you think cw will put on next year?therell be Tues @9 when Ringers cancelled, Fri at 8 when Nikita is cancelled, Wed @8 already cause oth/h8 trs are cancelled, plus GG will most/more likley only get a 13 episode final season so theres a slot after it in spring if gg returns in fall or slot before it if it airs in spring and also theres a spot Wed @9 between Top Model cycles.Thats already 5 spots for 5 new shows without cancelling HoD or SC. Though I do admit is possible for HoD to be cancelled.

The Voice was only doing great during the blind auditions. That part of the show was the most exciting meanwhile, AI’s live shows, as opposed to TV, are more exciting compared to the waste of time auditions.

It must be embarassing for the producers of SMASH when GCB has more singing and dancing when SMASH is about the making of a broadway musical!

  • Ronda

Good for Hart of Dixie holding steady. LOL at Gossip Girl getting adjusted down significantly.

@LOL Gossip Girl isn’t getting renewed because it does well on itunes. (FWIW it’s slipping in that area too.) Gossip Girl is only getting renewed so it can have a final season to wrap up storylines. If the CW was really impressed with Gossip Girl it would be getting a full season but given it’s atrocious ratings it’s only going to get 13 episodes. No matter how a few fans spin it the entire season has been a dairsaster – particularly the second half when they slipped below a million eyeballs for multiple weeks. The showrunners are lucky Gossip Girl used to be the signature program for the network or they’d have gotten shitcanned at the end of this season. Sadly that means other more worthy shows will get cancelled like Ringer, Nikita, and/or Hard of Dixie.

I just started watching hart of dixie. AND i AM shocked by the ratings i love this show it somehow reminds me of gilmore girls, one of my all time favourites. I don’t know why i didn’t watch it before but 0.6 is just shocking! i have my fingers crossed hoping a new season is on it’s way.

  • W

I knew that Castle would be adjusted down slightly, with 2.1/6 demos. What is going on here? DWTS, competing against The Voice, is not doing as well as previous years. H50’s rebroadcast episode almost caught up with Smash’s new episode’s key demographic ratings! The other comedies did fine!
